I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent Work/Life balance depending on team. Allows WFH, decent vacation package. Unlimited sick time.

    Cons

Decent when hourly, I've seen many salaried employees work 50+ hours weeks at a time. Pay is very low for the Seattle area, recent college hires have been getting more starting pay than employees who have been with the company for 4+ years. You're consistently being micromanaged, all the time you hear stuff like you're great talent etc. They're really trying hard to keep employees at the moment, turnover is pretty high.
If you just want to collect a pay check and coast by, this is the place to be.

    Advice to Management

Pay market salary for the area.

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Flexibility, nice co-workers, newer offices

    Cons

constant reorgs, every few months, outdated processes, slow to improve. last 2 years constant lay offs both for contractors and full time employees. Morale is very low.

    Advice to Management

Stabilize the processes and retain knowledge employees

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Discount on phone plans
    - You definitely make a lot of friends and are able to network
    - My location had great people and management
    - Uniform allotment given twice a year
    - Union
    - There are opportunities to move up if you're a top seller

    Cons

    - Doesn't value employees overall
    - Too sales driven; lots of "shady" practices
    - Too much outsourcing
    - Disconnect between stores and customer care on the phone

    Advice to Management

Direct management was great. Upper, upper management doesn't see the bigger picture of making the company steadily grow, rather focuses too much on pleasing shareholders right away.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great long term strategy and stable company

    Cons

Moving many jobs to Dallas is silly for such a global company.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication to employees on changes.
Delegate decision to employees makes for better morale through empowerment.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pay was above the average for similar jobs.

    Cons

    No continuity, consistency or control

    Advice to Management

The level 1 management did very little work except to threaten if you weren't performing. No coaching or training was ever done to help improve the companies assets, AKA employees. I don't completely blame the level 1 managers for how bad they are. Level 2 management was so hands-off that they didn't even try to give training to the managers to help improve them. Yearly employee surveys were done, and every time there were lots of comments that were direct and indirect that should have given them clues to what needed to be done.
