I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Discount, and before changing commission pay.

    Cons

Long hours, closing nights if you are new, not real goals, micro management sucks! Mangers are moved around so much that soon as you get comfortable a new manager is there. Driving around to local business to bring In business when every market has a business rep! DTV is Overwhelming! If you don’t get it the DTV your manager will show you less attention. You can’t be yourself at all! Also if you have great customer...

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Pay is decent from time to time.

    Cons

Schedule is seniority based. Reps are union based whether they want to be apart or not. New focus all the time in areas that don't make commission. Changes monthly. Customer Service is horrible behind the scenes.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

Co workers, most were hard working people just like family.

    Cons

None, non existent work- life/ family balance, micro management, low morale spirit within company. Customer service was just PR verbiage, only cares about pleasing shareholders. Co. Is dying within and will be gone within approx 10-15 years like Sears, Kodak, etc.

      Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at AT&T

      Pros

The benefits are definitely a plus

      Cons

The company preaches customer service but will penalize you for a job well done

      Advice to Management

Great customer service and customer satisfaction starts with outfitting your employees with the necessary tools and training to perform their jobs proficiently . It takes time to do a quality job . When you puts unreasonable time constraints on your workers he result will be poor workmanship than will have to redone resulting in spending double or triple. If you get it right the first time.... you know the rest.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

I’m giving this review two stars because when I started, it was a dream job - large budgets, autonomy, trust from leadership, customer-centric mentality, win-together mentality. Also, flexible hours and telecommuting opportunities for most teams. Not without challenges typical of a large matrixed, layered company but wanted to do great and be great. Used to encourage career development.

      Cons

Ever since the DIRECTV merger, this company has gone down the tubes, fast. The work environment is so toxic and the customer service and product quality has gone down as a result. If you’re an AT&T customer and have noticed this, it’s because what your experiencing is a direct reflection of what is happening internally. Leadership (if you could call it that) is abysmal. The...

      Advice to Management

Officers, fire the majority of the leadership team under you. If you want to right the ship. Not hyperbole - it is common knowledge that the majority of your employee base places blame at the feet of leadership for the current chaos. Just ask anyone for their honest opinion. Stop hiring and promoting people who bring an antiquated point of view to the table. You will continue to lose that way. Strive to get back to...

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

      Pros

      - decent pay - very supportive and genuinely helpful co-workers

      Cons

      - It's a sales job, first and foremost. The titles "Customer Care Rep" or "Customer Service" are a farce. It's ACTUALLY "Mobility SALES and Service Rep". Reps are always on the wrong foot and despite people calling in for their concerns, reps are to make sales offers on EVERY CALL. Yes, even on the ones when customers have been calling about the same problem five times and have...

      Advice to Management

GET IT TOGETHER. The turnover is ABYSMAL and would make most fast food joints blush. There's no reason why HALF of my training class is already gone three months (or less) into employment. That particular center can hold lots of reps, but currently, maybe 30%-40% is actually filled. Many employees suspect that they're just hiring people to fill up their quota and that they're in danger of closing that particular center....

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 9 years

      Pros

Great pay compared to other similar jobs in the area.

      Cons

Terrible medical benefits. If you work in a store your commission is mostly based on DirecTV but at&t had no clue how to run that company so it's a total goat rodeo that severely affects your pay and advancement opportunities. I'm white but they were blatantly racist and discriminatory. I had numerous managers fired for ethical violations and numerous managers that should've been but weren't. I was fired 9 days before...

      Advice to Management

Fix DirecTV before it pulls you understand. Fix the QIR investigation process. It shouldn't take over two months to fire a manager who's actively sexually harassing their employees.
