I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The benefits are pretty darn good! And the 401K match is nice too.

    Cons

too big with too many layers. From the bottom to the position to get changes done, there are to many layers and the higher it goes, it seems to get lost, so you will most likely not see changes that need to happen. Also, changes seem to come from people that do not have a stake in that process, so many times the process does not work.

    Advice to Management

Take advice from the team that does the work with the tools provided. They have good input as to what would make it work. It seems that the higher you go, the more afraid to provide the data from the user ranks. Not sure if that is a job security fear, or "lets not create waves" attitude.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Fortunate to have some good managers in my 20 years working for AT&T. Always able to find someone to help with problems. Ability to work from home when the need arises. Nice discount on AT&T services for DIRECTV and mobile services.

    Cons

VPs and AVPs are continuously overhauling processes and work assignments. No real stability on staying on one team doing the same job. In 2 years time, I had 6 different managers. Lots of work is being outsourced overseas and to third party contractors so very difficult to get hired by AT&T now. When a new company is acquired, big layoffs shortly follow.

    Advice to Management

Instead of overhauling processes, try to improve the process in place to make it more streamlined and easier for the customers. Every time the process changes, it's hard for both customers and employees to know who is responsible for what.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    the pay/salary is decent.

    Cons

Leadership is in constant overhaul. Several people trying to make decisions and struggling for power. Too many last minute decisions for offers from national marketing.

    Advice to Management

Establish a strategy and stick to it. Consider how much your last minute decisions impact those doing the actual work.

constant changes in responsibilities, teams, orgs and leadership create large obstacles to continually overcome and relationships to build. High level of expectations to perform in no-win situations many times.

    Advice to Management

value your employees who got you where you are today

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good Pay and Benefits for all

    Cons

Seems like organizations are always in a state of flux. Reorgs after reorgs are the norm. At this time, one does not want to be associated with any legacy copper technology. Result of being attached to a legacy technology is getting laid-off

    Advice to Management

Pull your head out and quiet blowing smoke to all the employees. Stand UP, Talk Straight, and Follow Through... Quite painting a picture of butterflies and unicorns and tall the troops the real story
