    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Technical people in high demand. Jobs can be challenging. Work life balance was great.

    Cons

Have to train for contingency assignments. Software developers often pulled away from assignments to work on at&t specific tasks and project housekeeping. Eventually all employee software developers get pushed into architect or system engineer roles, or managing offshore development teams.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked for this company for almost 30 years now. They helped fund my education and raise a family.

    Cons

ABSOLUTELY no work/life balance. Job entails working everyday of the week all hours of the day and night. I will not be here much longer. Short staffed team that does not backfill positions when someone leaves, just passes that person's responsibilities on to everyone else.

    Advice to Management

Start valuing your employees a little more and they will give you more

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of emphasis on improving your skills, applying and growing your career. Community engagement, volunteering and participation through lots of employee resource groups

    Cons

Will need to work hard anywhere, but lots of learning emphasis

    Advice to Management

    Doing well

    Cons

Mostly not working with cutting edge, but some groups probably are.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, telecommuting, bonuses, great work environment, and family feel.

    Cons

Offshore collaboration is difficult due to work hour differences, scheduling, or communication skills. Sometimes the cultural differences are challenging as well.

    Advice to Management

Hang on to your seasoned managers. They keep the green help from creating problems. Sometimes new hires think they are cowboys who know everything but lack the broad vision more mature managers have. These hotdogs often try cutting edge things that just won't work in real world scenerios... at least not the way they think. Big companies need to make big moves the right way when it involves code.

I worked at AT&T (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Not much to say. They seem to keep people just to string them along and not hire quality new talent..

    Cons

Big business. Company no longer cares about the employee. Benefits cost more every year while salaries remain stagnant.

I have been working at AT&T (More than 10 years)

    Pros

AT&T is an innovative company and is an established well known company to work for.

    Cons

While there is opportunity for advancement within AT&T, the opportunities extended are often decided upon by individuals with predetermined candidates in mind for the positions (even if an individual applying - that is not the predetermined candidate - is more qualified). While not every job opportunity applies to this practice or hiring manager, it does happen more than not. Nonetheless, AT&T is an awesome company to work for and I would sincerely recommend applying to anyone interested.

    Advice to Management

My advice to Randall Stephens. (Continue moving the company in the direction AT&T is headed - I see a bright future)

    I worked at AT&T full-time

    Pros

There are pockets of great people working in small teams, you just have to be lucky enough to end up on one of these small teams

    Cons

Too many middle managers that only focus on their own initiatives without any thought to improving the business or improving internal process

    Advice to Management

    Cut the middle management fat
