Started as a small company but since being bought by Ingram Micro, cutbacks are made it scarier to work there

I have been working at AVAD full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

easy to change, quick to react to business and employee satisfaction. Competitive pay, high ethics value, seems to be the only one in the industry trying to do things above board.

    Cons

Too big to be quick in the marketplace. overhead is high requiring inflated sales goals. operational tech is still behind the times.

I have been working at AVAD full-time

    Pros

    Cons

Upward mobility is uncertain within our division.

I have been working at AVAD full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Salaries are healthy and higher than average in some departments.
New Owners are heavily investing in the infrastructure and committed to building a strong team with existing talent and adding experienced professionals.
AVAD has been winning industry awards for service and quality for over 10 years, including for 2017.
Managers meet regularly with their staff.
There are weekly newsletters that talk about sales promotions, events, and more than half of the newsletter are the great news from our branches.
There is a path for people to get promotions.
Transparency with financials for the sales team.
Growth: we've moved out of some old buildings into newer and smaller branches. Our corporate HQ moved into a really nice building in Scottsdale. We've opened 2 new shipping warehouses and over 20 new hubs where our Dealers can pick up their orders in areas where we don't have a branch. Some of those are open 24 hours for Dealer convenience.
The IT infrastructure is being updated. New employees get new equipment!
Health Insurance on day 1 for full-time employees

    Cons

With the acquisition last year, there have been lots of folks with tenure that lost their jobs with others leaving before the dust settled.
The new owners have not directly offered the field the warm-fuzzy affirmations that exude their confidence and commitment, but the sales and marketing leadership has been, so we hope that it is how they feel too.
Low employee morale hasn't been directly addressed so we are losing experienced and respected legacy employees to our competition and our vendors, which can easily be stopped with the owners showing the people in the branches their positive support.
We've lost some business because our competitors are lying that we are going out of business which is not true based on the facts about all of the new openings.
Challenges with their commission structure that needs to be fixed.

    Advice to Management

You are all obviously committed not only to the profitability in your company but also to the people that are in your organization. Just know that many of those people are either unaware or they don't believe it to be true. It's an easy fix since you have the great people already. It is just about communicating. Continue recognizing our successes, which we all appreciate. And help us not continue to lose those great team members.

    I worked at AVAD full-time

    Pros

Access to multiple technologies & talented people. They are a large company, so can provide for trainings, etc. to aid thier employees.

    Cons

Dying market scrambling to find new products to push on overstressed dealers & thier clients. They are A pretty massive company that is owned by one of the largest companies in the world. At the end of the day, as an employee, you are just a number filling a chair

    Advice to Management

Accept the limits of your market don't push dealers into markets/ technologies they can't propperly use-- you're only hurting your own customers.

I worked at AVAD full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

At the time there was quite a bit of freedom to do the job as you saw best

    Cons

The new management had started to micro manage everything about the job

    Advice to Management

Hire the right people then let them do the job. If you have the wrong person they will never get it right in the first place
