Great products, revenue organizations are poor
Jun 1, 2023 - Business ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great products, great R&D teams and great people for the most part
Cons
Company direction is confusing with frequent changes and little transparency. It's getting better under Caspar and new ELT members and structure. Sales and customer success organizational churn is making business for customers a pain. Marketing leadership is non-existent. General feeling is sales, customer success and marketing organizations are breaking down. Missing the OSIsoft days :(

Great Company, People and Standards
Mar 2, 2023 - Software Developer in Lake Forest, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Nice work environment, good equipment Met many amazing and talented people at AVEVA They have really well developed processes and standards for working Great technology stack and the lead engineers are geniuses and really down to earth Most of management is very professional and kind
Cons
I only left the company because my immediate manager was cruel and had a bad temper. When I went to his manager to complain about the unprofessional conduct, there was nothing they would do because these two managers had been long time friends. They wouldn't even move me to a different team as I requested. I really wanted to continue working there because of how good the technology was and how smart my colleagues were, but being stuck under a bad manager was the only reason I couldn't give them a 5 star review. Even with all that I really respect those managers technical abilities even though they didn't have the best people skills.

Not like OSIsoft
Feb 22, 2023 - Senior Software Developer in Tri-CitiesRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- There are good people and good teams that you will get to work with. - One might even argue that they feel a familial connection or close friendship with co-workers. - Most direct managers will do what they can to make you happy.
Cons
- Upper management does not listen to their employees. - Upper management sends out anonymous surveys to seek feedback but does not care about the feedback other than wanting the feedback to be more positive. - Upper management uses demographic data from anonymous surveys to try and get teams and offices to give better scores while simultaneously ignoring feedback provided in those surveys. - Direct managers are not given the power that they need to work with their team members, they are forced to follow the general directives set forth by upper management. - There are people in upper management "whose bad side you don't want to be on". - Require 3 days a week in the office unless you are able to convince upper management that you should be able to work remotely (generally, this comes down to threatening to leave the company). Previously, it was required to come in 1 day per sprint (some teams work on 2 week, some on 3 week), it was then changed to 1 day per week ("as agreed with your manager" even though no such agreement was ever made). - Established a communications committee to try and fix communications issues in the organization and then never took any action based upon feedback.

Pros
- Your direct manager will likely be very invested in your professional development and there is generally a culture of fostering innovation. If you can make a good business case for wanting to work on something that interests you, you can probably do that. Though I suppose your mileage will vary depending on your team and manager (both of which there are many) - Decent D&I initiatives - Pay and benefits haven't historically been great, but a recent initiative to better align with the rest of the tech sector bumped things up a bit. That said, employees are having a very, very hard time with a switch in health insurance providers this year.
Cons
Products are poorly managed. Individual teams contributing to a larger development effort are constantly missing deadlines or submitting work that has to be reworked after product managers review it. The company is an awkward combination of practices and cultures from the many other companies they've acquired over the years. Disappointingly, the ELT also seems like they're deciding the root of these and other problems lie in the remote work policy, which has been stripped little by little over the past year or two despite employees claiming that job satisfaction, innovation, and productivity have increased due to the flexibility.

Pros
I'm honored to be involved in a company that does so much for the environment. Cutting our footprint is a drop in the bucket when you realize how our software is used. In nearly every process industry, pharmacy and food and beverage, our software makes a measurable difference in reducing energy consumption.
Cons
We don't pay as well as some others.

A quick decline of a once incredible culture
Mar 9, 2023 - Software DeveloperRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
People are very friendly and approachable. I've never felt uncomfortable reaching out for collaboration or help from other teams. Tons of opportunity for professional development. Pretty good insurance and vacation.
Cons
Within a year of my start date I became the second most tenured member of my team. The company wasn't offering competitive salaries but the compensation wasn't a huge concern for me because of the great work life balance and office relationships. It was decided we go from fully remote to 1 day in the office per sprint to 1 day in the office per week to 3 days per week with the explanation: "people who voluntarily work from the office don't have anyone to talk to".

Well Meaning Company with Innovative Desire

Good environment and work-life balance. Focus on the future. Not shy at reaching beyond limits.
Cons
Not a flat structure in terms of software design and decision making. Cross team collaboration limited. Low flexibility in terms of innovative freedom.

Great place to work at and grow your career
Jan 29, 2023 - Software Engineering Manager in San Leandro, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Moving with our SaaS offering at great speed. We already have an Industry leading on-prem real time historian. We are all set to leverage our positioning and accelerate our Cloud adoption. There is a lot of excitement and energy in the company around this while ensuring that our existing customers (who are using the on-prem solution) remain happy.
Cons
Cons are being addressed - not too many to begin with - just some harmonization still being done after the merger between OSIsoft and AVEVA however management is doing a commendable job on this front as well.
