Great benefits, lots of opportunities to learn new things, flexible work from home policy

    Cons

AVG no longer exists as it got bought out by Avast.

    Advice to Management

I worked at AVG Technologies full-time

    Pros

All around a good company, but it was apparent in the end that a lot of important decisions and investments were avoided because the company was in acquisition talks

    Cons

The company was acquired and a lot of us were terminated. The acquiring company had a lot of product overlap and so they wanted to consolidate.

    Advice to Management

None at this point. It's just business and what they had to do I order to make the deal.

I have been working at AVG Technologies full-time

    Pros

Flexibility, Ability to work from home if need be, Ability to learn and work without micromanagement. Benefits are great and they do take care of their employees.

    Cons

Workflow is entirely to dynamic. This causes confusion in regards to deadlines, or what you are supposed to be working on. This makes things at times, more stressful than they need to be.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with tasks set, see projects through to completion, focus more on quality than new features. Not allowing projects to run to completion devalues the work that the engineers do.

I worked at AVG Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Like I mentioned before, there is a great open office converted from an old warehouse with brick interior and exterior.
    Catered lunch
    Accessible and passionate executives

    Cons

Constant turnover, which is normal considering the Bay Area market.

I have been working at AVG Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I wouldn't give any company 5 stars because there are always cons to any work environment. I'm one of the new U.S. employees who is happy with coworkers and the management team, especially the new executives who've come on board in the last year. There is a lot of opportunity at the US office to make your mark, be a part of a global company shift, and gain experience with jobs you may not have the opportunity to do if you were the same level at another company. Keep in mind this is not the same company it was just a year ago, so the newer employees are probably much happier than the older ones. The benefits package is great. I actually took a tiny pay cut from my old job to come here for the health benefits, the work/life balance, the HR support, and because I really like my direct supervisor.

    Cons

Being able to do jobs and gain experience that you may not get the opportunity to do while having the same title at another company also means that you have more work! You don't just have 3 jobs you have about 10.
Company is in transition from an employee, an executive, and a business standpoint so while the strategy is clear the movement in getting there is not a well-oiled machine just yet. It will also take the international managers and employees a while to get used to having many executives at the US headquarters. The company overall still seems very Czech and European-centric.

    Advice to Management

Other managers need more knowledge about the U.S. customer and US Marketing / Branding needs overall.

Former Employee - Reseller Management in Orlando, FL
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The office relocated from Orlando, FL to Chelmsford, MA so I don't know if these still hold true: Excellent benefits, bonuses (depending on department), casual work environment, free software

    Cons

They seem to relocate the office every time someone new is hired for the top position at the North American office. (every 1 to 2 years) It would make more sense for the person hired to relocate than for that person to move the office closer to him. Or maybe they could hire someone that is local to the current office - gee that's an idea.

    Advice to Management

Moving the office often makes the company look unstable and it's not right to force your employees to resign at a time when good jobs are so hard to find. For the sake of the current employees, I hope the company is going to keep the current office open for a long time so they don't get screwed like so many others did.
