I have been working at AVI Foodsystems Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free meals, good benefits, steady work, lots of opportunities for overtime for those who want it.

    Cons

Zero job training. Initiative is highly frowned upon. Low pay and annual raises that don't keep up with the cost of living. Lots of turnover. Minimal work/life balance. Favoritism. Nepotism. cronyism and sexism abound. Insufficient screening of new hires, resulting in the hiring of people who are lazy, drunks, mentally unstable, combative, malingerers, malicious gossips, bullies, or just generally make the job harder than it has to be.

    Advice to Management

Have regular training for non-skilled workers so they can assist the chefs and lower level managers, or at least not be a burden to them. Expose lower level managers to management training. Apply company policies evenly. Make use of rotating shifts so that everybody pulls their weight and so that everyone gets a chance to have a life. Carefully screen new hires for their ability to work with others as well as their ability to do the job.
