    Pros

Moved up to management quickly. Decent pay. Promoted from within. Good employees for the most part. Free food. Free beverages.

    Cons

Work load is ridiculous. Most accounts understaffed. Most accounts have outdated equipment because it's cheap. Most kitchens way too small and ill equipped to handle the volume. I've had to run an account alone several times. Have to get a hair test to make sandwiches. SERIOUSLY?

    Advice to Management

Support your staff more. Hire more people. Pay more.

I have been working at AVI Foodsystems Inc. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Days go by fast. Get to drive around and fill machines all day. Meet people all day. Great health insurance

    Cons

Days are not just 8 hours. People can call in for the most petty complaint and you have to drive across town to make them happy.

    Advice to Management

Be more honest when hiring new people about benefits and houra

    Pros

Good pay. I work Monday through Friday 6a-2p so my hours fit my needs.

    Cons

I was never told I had sick time available. Management is horrible. They are unfair and not trained well. they avoid any conflict resolution and do not handle matters that cost them employees. I have reported to HR since the GM and district manager have not helped but they are just as useless.

    Advice to Management

    get some training.

I have been working at AVI Foodsystems Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hours M-F Daylight, Off evenings, weekends & holiday. Paid Holiday's. Pay is adequate.

    Cons

Very hard to advance with the company, Week management that often lies to its staff. Full time positions are expected to work exceptionally hard because most of the staff is part time. does not follow the policies that are outlined in handbook with regard to smoking, cell phone usage, absenteeism.

    Advice to Management

Work as a team with your management, share important information relative to the job, Treat your employees like they matter. Stand up for what is right for your account.

    Pros

The hours weren't bad, in general. Some of the coworkers were great, which can be hit or miss at any job.

    Cons

Poor upper leadership, the bosses have little idea what their people are doing. The bosses barely knew any of us existed until there was some sort of inspection or complaint from even more senior management. Then we saw them a lot.

The company has these "values" that sound great, but really aren't lived by the leaders in the field.

Being made to work a lot of hours, but only put 40 hours down for payroll is not right either. If you got more than 40, you'd get a nasty email, and then only paid for 40 anyway. I'm pretty sure that's not even legal.

    Advice to Management

    Live those AVI values

I have been working at AVI Foodsystems Inc. part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Weekends off, direct deposit, good retirement job for people only wanting Couple hours week

    Cons

My hours got cut due to lack of work so I was forced to get another job to pay bills and when they picked up again they would ask me to request my days off from my other job to work for them. Management/ chef will not help you even if your slammed to bus tables. If you are looking for steady full time work go elsewhere. They only want you when they need you but the rest of time too bad.

    Advice to Management

Help your employees out not when it's just convenient for you

I have been working at AVI Foodsystems Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free meals, good benefits, steady work, lots of opportunities for overtime for those who want it.

    Cons

Zero job training. Initiative is highly frowned upon. Low pay and annual raises that don't keep up with the cost of living. Lots of turnover. Minimal work/life balance. Favoritism. Nepotism. cronyism and sexism abound. Insufficient screening of new hires, resulting in the hiring of people who are lazy, drunks, mentally unstable, combative, malingerers, malicious gossips, bullies, or just generally make the job harder than it has to be.

    Advice to Management

Have regular training for non-skilled workers so they can assist the chefs and lower level managers, or at least not be a burden to them. Expose lower level managers to management training. Apply company policies evenly. Make use of rotating shifts so that everybody pulls their weight and so that everyone gets a chance to have a life. Carefully screen new hires for their ability to work with others as well as their ability to do the job.
