I have been working at AVI Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee owned which creates an ability to be accountable and hold others to, good training and team atmosphere and an overall focus on improvement.

    Cons

Need qualified programmers, installers and technicians as we are heavy on the grow.

    Advice to Management

    Over communicate

I have been working at AVI Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn and grow with the company. Job security is definitely there. If you like to work there is plenty to do to keep the day moving.

    Cons

Can't think of any right now.. except perhaps that there is little or no breathing room between jobs. So if a job runs over due to a problem, it can cause an issue with the next install.

    Advice to Management

Keep growing! Perhaps add some extra time to jobs to account for those ones that have an issue that need some extra time.

I have been working at AVI Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is focused on adapting as they continue to grow, and open to modifying processes for future gains.

    Cons

The company is so focused on profitability at every level, that they often loose focus on the benefit the employees can bring if given time to focus on internal improvement.

    Advice to Management

New processes only will work if you are prepared to get all of your executives on the same page. When some leaders have their own agenda, the bigger plans will never be fully successful.

    Pros

There 401K is the best out there. If you put your own money in like I did, or not, they would put a lot of extra money into your 401K. Hard to get fired from.

    Cons

There health insurance is one of the highest out there. Bonuses are going away. 2 raises in 6 years. Yearly reviews with a 4 out of 5 and nothing to show for it. Like I stated above, hard to get fired from so some bad apples stick around for a very long time.

    Advice to Management

Restructure your health plan. Give yearly raises. Do random drug testing,

I worked at AVI Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee owned, AVI Systems shares their profits with those working on the front lines both in paycheck bonuses and as contributions to the employee's retirement. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun while each day is a new challenge. Pay was competitive and I felt like my accomplishments were appreciated with pay increases. The company is expanding and growing, if you've never worked for an actively growing company, its a wonderful experience!

    Cons

I felt that some install projects could've used just another hour of quality assurance and that our local project manager could've been more actively involved in ensuring the end product was ready for presentation to the customer with zero issues. What can be done to bring the workload on the project managers into a state where this is possible? I only left the company due to location.

    Advice to Management

Maintain the highest standards of quality in our work, don't spread the front line technicians and project managers too thinly to get their jobs done well. I am under the impression that AVI is revered as a high end A/V Integrator and should maintain its excellent reputation!

I worked at AVI Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Enjoyed working here. Interesting approach to health benefits, but financially it worked well. A lot of resources in the company to get the job done.

    Cons

Pay was below average and bonus calculation was impossible. It just showed up and there was no way to know what, if any, bonus you would receive.

    Advice to Management

Have more transparency in bonus calculation.

    Pros

AVI is a growing company with good intentions.

    Cons

They are a bit of an an accounting company that sells AV.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your core business, not so much on the process.
