    Pros

Schedule flexibility, good people, good customer exposure, management is very understanding and works with you regarding work life balance, good environment

I worked at AVL Instrumentation & Test Systems full-time

    Pros

Engineering staff is competent and strong sense of team and loyalty

    Cons

The Human Resource department discusses confidential information for kicks and routinely mocks employees behind their backs. Apparently, even Don isn't off limits. Don't go to them for help, they'll just say your an idiot for not knowing the answer as soon as you walk away.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention

Great people. US President and sales team are awesome.

Massively undermined by central HR and Finance functions. Could do more engineering in USA.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on customers. Pray for a change in HR

I have been working at AVL Instrumentation & Test Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company has some great products , some very innovative instrumentation and software products . And they can be a single source supplier for all testing needs . There are some very talented individuals who work here .

    Cons

The core values are not adhered to by the internal management, therefore they are not practiced .
The lack of internal communication is probably the key to most of its problems .
The customer service department only receives information through gossip and hear say . There is never any formal communication about department or company status .

    Advice to Management

For top management to recognize that there is a huge disconnect between what is on the books and the actual customer perspective . While some managers are making their numbers look good to upper management , it is at a cost that will persuade future business to go somewhere else .

I worked at AVL Instrumentation & Test Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most employees very smart, very highly educated, very willing to help each other

    Cons

Nepotism very obvious. Most management clueless and establishes roadblocks to efficiency by creating multi-layered procedures to report and solve basic customer problems.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people who work for you, they are sticking their necks out for the company and trying unsuccessfully to put the company in a good light. A little bit of appreciation goes a long way.

I worked at AVL Instrumentation & Test Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

None. At the begining there are some matrix but then the company wasn't doing well and canceled all of that.

    Cons

Worst place to work at ever!!!!! The company is horrible to their employee,HR bullys employee and think everybody is lower than them. Some managers in this company bully people work for them. There is no career grow in this company and very limited promotion or salary raise. This company is all about politics, you are a target if you don't please certain people's. In order to survive in this comapny, you have to be quiet and don't do much, otherwise you can get fired any second. This company has very weird dynamic, you can tell everyone is stressed out and extremly negative. The turnover rate is extremly high. It is recently involved in law suit as well.

    Advice to Management

There are too much to improve that I don't even know where to start, it's a good idea to not work here at all. I would never recommend this company to any of my friends or family.
