I worked at AXA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid for what effort you put into the job. Great office of people in Dallas.

    Cons

Feels like you never get anywhere professionally and succesfully. Feels a bit like a pyramid scheme.

    Advice to Management

Great professional growth but the compensation plan needs a complete overhaul in order to motivate people to stick it out.

I have been working at AXA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are all really nice and helpful. Generous benefits and paid time off. There is a sense of teamwork and comradery when working alongside people here.

    Cons

The training and on boarding process has been very hands off/do it yourself. Not much communication with your direct managers.

    Advice to Management

Try to do better at getting new employees set up.

I worked at AXA as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of educational seminars and networking opportunities

    Cons

The financial advisor intern is not actually assigned to any real work, it's more like just practicing fake cold call all day

    Advice to Management

    make internship program more efficient

I worked at AXA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Provided great opportunities for personal development and global exposure
Loved working with the financial professionals in the field and had an outstanding team working with me

    Cons

Recent years, the turnover from the top down in the U.S. leadership team has brought in a change of focus from people to Mckinsey-type data analysis that drives all decisions, regardless of impact to people.

    Advice to Management

You need to focus on treating people right and results will follow. Use some 360 reviews to see what people really think of current leaders and recognize that while some people show some metric-driven results, their reports do not feel appreciated and some are downright fearful of their managers.

    Pros

Company is very diverse and has set forth a great work like balance program.

    Cons

Company is only interested in millennial new hires and are only concerned with keeping them engaged. Opportunities are for the young.

    Advice to Management

Internal knowledge and company loyalty still has its value.

I have been working at AXA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

PTO, CO workers, Good location, Casual Environment. Mid Management is pretty fair and great to work for

    Cons

High Cost for Insurance, Favortisim, Upper Management does not respect hourly employees. Most jobs are contracts. You are not told that if the contract does not renew you will be laid off. Call Center.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the good employees. Care about your team a little more, we give alot to make this company excel. Appreciation goes a long way.

    Pros

Global company, if you so happen to get lucky and get off the sales desk there seems to be opportunity but good luck doing so. They favor externals to the extreme

    Cons

As an internal there's no increase in base salary after 50k - level 3 internal., you have to pay for your own parking if you want to drive in, company does not provide WATER besides from a rusty water fountain, no one has seen a spot bonus in YEARS but they spoil and give everything to their external wholesalers

    Advice to Management

Increase base salaries - capped at 50k a year...living in the North East and not having any type of cost adjustment is very difficult.

    "Financial Consultant"

    Star Star Star Star Star
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Oak Brook, IL
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Oak Brook, IL

    Pros

The hours are very flexible. They will pay (reimburse) you for getting your Series 7, and 66. They will train you to sell financial securities. The group I worked for was very professional.

    Cons

They want you to sell house product, ie insurance and annuities. Your manager will take a cut of your commissions when out on appointments with you. There is a relatively high turnover rate. This is a commission only position.

    Advice to Management

Pay the new people a small salary and slowly taper the pay.
