Pros
There are some good part of this underwriting company. This can be a great opportunity to start you carrier ESPECIALLY if you are young, a minority, openly gay because the the company LOVES to proclaim its DEI rhetoric. If you are able to play politics this could be a long term place for you. If however you care about the clients, process improvement, and delivering value, you may consider another option. AXA DOES NOT walk their own talk. They will pay you well to get in the door, but after that you will be relegated to small annual increases and a bonus plan that is about your political acumen NOT linked to your contributions.
Cons
The talk about customers, work life balance and a healthy culture is just talk. The commitment to clients and supporting them in the dispute resolution process is about what looks good rather than what is "right". If you value being a part of client driven organization, this place is not for you. SR management is rewarded on the results of the quarterly PLUSE survey. This survey is suppose to be anonymous, but that is not the case. If you respond with poor or low ratings, you will likely place yourself at risk. Because AXA never understood what it purchased when it acquired XL Group, I expect AXA to sell all or parts of AXA XL in the next few years. AXA Group does not understand the commercial insurance business

-some business units are toxic -overload experienced and capable workers and make too many allowances for underperformers -siloed work and friction between departments with business u it -unqualified leadership making decisions and unwilling to consider or listen to reason or logic

A lot of red tape and approvals need to happen in order to get any work done. Many different teams and silos that is difficult how all these teams and silos work affect the overall business objects. Advancement/Promotions are difficult depending on the department you are in.
