I worked at Aacres part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Direct involvement in field, great opportunity for learning, and they provide great training courses.

    Cons

The field can be a bit too competitive for some reason.

    Advice to Management

Create equal opportunity jobs, and try to uplift employees more, rather than encourage competition, for it changes the work environment, especially when wages and salaries are involved.

    Pros

Get to work with awesome clients. Generally simple work. Very rewarding work. Paid certifications. Decent benefits available.

Some of the work can get frustrating and there is generally high turn around. However, that usually means hours are available le.for overtime if you want to take them.

I worked at Aacres full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only pro that can be found here is if you posses a legitimate and real care for the developmentally disabled and want to try and help better someones life.

    Cons

Where to begin? There is no real career opportunity here. Your wages will start low, and they will stay low. There was a pay freeze a few years back and it hasn't gotten any better since then. Don't expect to be able to take any complaints to your program managers or even your area managers, the actual power is all up at the top, and they can barely do anything down there to hear or adjust your grievances. There are miles and miles of red tape in this job, and those like it, but be warned, always always always do exactly what your manual says, they will throw you under the bus in the event of any accidents. They were recently under probation from the state for a few different issues. Unfortunately your co-workers may or may not be any better, gossip is a HUGE problem through out the company, so be very careful what you say and who you say it too. They will constantly tell you how important you are to the company, and then continue to do nothing to show you, while the entity itself makes a tidy sum of profit, please note, not a non-profit. I have to give the CEO a middle ground, not because hes doing a good job, but because they change CEO's so often you would think it was a new season of American Idol so its hard to tell if they are doing a good job or not.

    Advice to Management

Id love to give you some, like treating your employees well, and treating the clients with more respect that they deserve, but we both know depending on who is going to read this there is nothing you can even do to change any of it.

I have been working at Aacres full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Many of the clients are fun to work with and take care of. There are many very good staff and work together to take the clients out to do things they like. Training is good and don't need experience to do the job.

    Cons

No pay incentives or bonuses anymore. Performance reviews are done but we get no increase for doing a good job. Many staff leave after a while because they can make more elsewhere doing the same job.

    Advice to Management

Give raises and bonuses. Benefits are horrible.
