I have been working at Aalto University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good atmosphere, supports entrepreneurship, courses are well organized. The collaboration between arts, engineers and business students is clever. Student unions are very lively.

    Cons

A lot of construction yards for few years now, lunch places tend to be crowded, gym is far from the other buildings, and you often need to walk from a building to another during the day.

    Advice to Management

    Geep up the good work.

I have been working at Aalto University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Aalto in the past two or three years is changing a lot and some part of it is good too. Lots of development happening and very sharp changes

    Cons

The transition period has been the worst so far with lots of cut downs and very sharp changes in policies and system on very short or no notice. Then it's strange that the university of that scale can't even have funds to sustain PhDs and don't want to retain Post Docs who have their own funding. It's difficult and OPAQUE situation here with little to no communication or discussion so it's super weird.

    Advice to Management

Improve the communication, have a dialogue and discussion before making decisions, improve transparency in your actions

I worked at Aalto University full-time

    Pros

Academic freedom, nice campus area, well respected university in Finland and internationally too.

    Cons

Campus is a bit removed from Helsinki metropolitan area. Funding situation depends heavily on research group leader (where doesn't..). No real career perspectives after completing PhD.
