I have been working at Aavid full-time

    Pros

Great collaborative engineering team made up of autonomy and very valid people. Flexible work schedule.

    Cons

The company has not a consistent strategy. There is a poor communication among some internal departments and the equipment could be more updated. There are not so many chances on making a long career path inside the company.

I worked at Aavid full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great bunch of employees who are trying to make a difference globally
    - Strong culture and work ethic of getting things done (despite problems)
    - The last CEO was a real visionary, impressive and caring leader
    - Global design team is very capable and are an impressive team

    Cons

    - Post acquisition environment and culture is horrible. Its clear the new owner (Boyd) does not care about Aavid's culture or investing in developing people
    - Despite being a US company it has a strong Chinese management style and arrogance which you have to accept and kowtow to or you can't get anything done
    - China's manufacturing capability, quality and delivery is very questionable
    - Lots of internal confusion and communication issues is a constant
    - What was once a high tech company is now managed by a low tech (high volume) with no idea how to integrate the business

I have been working at Aavid full-time

    Pros

    1) Heavily investing in Marketing
    2) Indescrimate acquisition in fear of growth
    3) Rules customers
    4) You can make your money double during joining and then for sure no increment for next future in this bogus..

    Cons

    1) CEO decides if an employee will stay in a hotel for business of in the factory dormitory
    2) single penny decision has to be from CEO
    3) Huge number of VP's running around CEO for penny approval
    4) HR strategy- NIL.. Butter the CEO and you will get it

    Advice to Management

Marketing strategy for a technology company comes from new innovations and not by holding employees salaries and lay offs. Think big to get big, be fair to employees.
