    Training and value your employees.

    Advice to Management

A bad company/ lack of training and management can take a good staff and destroy it, causing the best employees to flee and the remainder to lose motivation.

I have been working at Abacus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Growing company, room for growth, and fun place to work.

    Cons

Working in the staffing industry is tough in general, and it is not an 8-5 job. Requires strong work ethic and competitive nature!

I worked at Abacus full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The co-workers in the office and "field" doing the hard work are helpful and generally professional.

    Cons

The workers are overworked and underpaid . There is very little support provided until something hits a critical level. It's hands on deck at that point. The field staff is then made to look incompetent and typically fired with no prior disciplinary action.

    Advice to Management

Provide support when the request is made. Do not wait until it is too late. Staffing is not a 9-5 and your employees should be paid and treated for the skills they have. There is a revolving door!

    I worked at Abacus

    Pros

    At least you get paid

    Cons

Frequent scheduling and paycheck errors. Manager engaged in unscrupulous stuff to cover mistakes. Constant co-worker drama. Very high turnover. Very few people interested in doing thorough, good work. Good people quit or get run off. Anybody who can pass as background and drug test can get in - even some who can't. It's not unusual for newer hires to work 14-21 d as us without a day off. High turnover... causes scheduling issues that lead to overworked staff. I know of a handful of good workers who persevered but were let go because they took time off for illness, graduations, planned family events that was requested and approved weeks in advance. You may be asked to use your car/truck for vehicle patrols while higher ups lease luxury SUV's that are more parked than driven.

    Advice to Management

Middle and low management is incompetent and unethical. Invest more in meaningful oversight and the resources to manage and retain decent quality people. The old boys' club and cronyism prevents hiring and advancement of truly good people.
