Pros
Flexible work schedule is the best here at AbbVie. People are still valued even if they work from home or different work hour schedule.
Cons
Honestly, I believe the pay is not competitive with the rest of the market after an employee has been within the company for years.

Pros
Large company with many projects and cutting edge technology that could/will help millions of people.
Cons
Most projects take around 5 years to get approved and on-market, summer workers are left behind/ignored for a majority of their time there. My mentor/boss who was supposed to assign me to a project gave me an abbvie water bottle on the first day and never spoke to me again, even after I asked them what I should be working on multiple days in a row. Having nothing to actively participate in was soul-draining, I had to stretch to put something applicable on my resume. Would not go back in the future or recommend to others looking for meaningful experience.

Clean office environment. Some of the people are very nice but employees will always remind you that your just a contractor.
Cons
Contractors are not treated well.

Pros
-Career advancement opportunities -Pension -401(k) match -About $120 a month for single person for health insurance/vision/medical -Management putting emphasis on employee development/training -Country bonuses a lot higher then US bonuses (twice as high). If you work overseas, bonuses for managers can be upto 18% and stock options offered. This isn't offered to US employees. -Strong pipeline but could take some years -Depending on the manager pretty ok with work/life balance -Town halls where employees can voice their concerns to Sr Management -Vacation time pretty reasonable
Cons
-With Humira patent expiring, some job cuts and expense cut pressures. HCV pressures also not helping company and outlook a little confusing. -Bonuses for people that are non director are mediocre (7% per year). Unless you are a director can you earn good benefits -No yearly shutdowns -Performance reviews can be very biased -Hard to advance unless you know the right person. Sometimes all the skills you have may no be important but who you know

Good old boys' club in Worcester MA
Jul 23, 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Worcester, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
*Opportunities to learn new things and have bigger projects as people who leave are not replaced *Decent benefits, though worse than in Abbott times
Cons
*Next to impossible to get a promotion to management if you are a minority in Worcester, MA *Very clique-like atmosphere in Worcester, MA dominated by a couple of rival groups, who work to undermine each other. *People you work with are frustrated, day-dreaming about quitting, toxic *Not a meritocracy *You have to be a white middle-age man with kids at home to be a manager, seems to be the only constant in most promotions at Abbvie in Worcester, MA *No sense of direction from CEO

Experience at AbbVie
Mar 11, 2017 - Finance Supervisor in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Feels valued and lots of opportunities to move within the company. Most people are very friendly and willing to have informationals and coach others that want to develop.
Cons
Comp is not competitive in some professions in some regions, and there is not much incentive for great performance. Agility has been improved but not quite there yet.

Pros
Fantastic Culture Flexible work arrangements- In office, Hybrid and some remote positions depending upon role. Very Good Benefits (better coverage and cheaper than my last employer) Encourage people to try other roles in business rather than leaving with lots of opportunities. Many roles get stock grants with 3-4 year vesting schedule They encourage you to use time off 2 week paid sick leave
Cons
Global company so some roles have very early and/or very late meetings with other geographies. Must be managed Significant amount of process and other churn due to regular acquisitions (not people) Rating process is cumbersome (but thorough) Vacation time off not as generous as some but not bad

the company is full of closed minded and very unprofessional people. Managers treat you like slaves and theres no team. Everyone shouts and speak italian like viligers. No one is able to speak english and theres no investment in the young people. Very toxic enviornment in all the departments. You wont wakeup with smile to go to work!
