I have been working at Abbott Laboratories full-time

    Pros

    - Great company overall - A really good department to get footing in the industry - Good facility and great benefits - People in the department are nice to work with

    Cons

    - Upper management doesn't seem to care much for work life balance. The work/life balance has really declined over the past few months. All they care about is meeting metrics without proper compensation for the amount of overtime worked. - Poor implementation of new processes. This further worsens the workload put on people. The reallocation or resources isn't properly thought out and at the end of the day puts stress on the entire department. - Understaffed and people are consistently leaving due to poor management.

I have been working at Abbott Laboratories full-time

    Pros

    -Good Benefits and decent pay

    Cons

-Culture, environment and morale is very low: No team presence, competitive among other TMs, limited management presence, no investment made in employees -Benefits have been better at other smaller companies -Territory goals are unattainable for larger territories. So much so, corporate lowered them end of Q1, but continues to offer ASCs bulk buy price without compensating territory for difference or factoring in bulk buy year over year in goals -Field expectations are work number one and family second -Mandatory conference calls last minute and held after 5:00 -Quarterly weekend meetings -Quarterly weekend inventory audits -Expect zero work/life balance

    I worked at Abbott Laboratories

    Pros

    1) Great culture. Genuinely nice people that care about the company's mission and the work they do. Good balance between being professional and fun. Great work-life balance; working overtime is basically unheard of. 2) Diverse, interesting and accessible work opportunities. Despite being such a large, global company, Abbott Finance is a tight-knit community where "everyone knows everyone". Easy to network within the company, even with senior leaders. The senior leaders truly respect younger employees. As a result, its easy to pursue opportunities in different financial functions, business units and locations across the world. You can work your whole career in Abbott Finance without exhausting the different opportunities there are.

    Cons

    1) Being such a large company, certain elements of the work experience can feel slow and bureaucratic 2) Being in finance at a health tech company can make it feel as if you're only in a supporting role to the engineers and scientists

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Abbott Laboratories full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay and benefits are great for the Sturgis, MI area. This is also a great place to get experience since they have such a hard time getting and retaining staff; your self driven educational opportunities are pretty much endless. There is a lot of soft skills and concepts training available; from leadership development to excel classes to health and fitness and even stress/burnout management. There is little support for the implementation of these skills, but most companies don’t even offer the training, so this is a big plus. Being part of a larger global company with multiple divisions, there is incredible growth and travel opportunity if someone were inclined and in a position to commit themselves.

    Cons

Hard skills training from experienced people is hard to come by here. The group has succeeded by the skin of its teeth for many decades and prides itself on scrappiness, hard work, and long hours. I repeat, long hours. This has caused poor work/life balance, operational inefficiencies, and burnout. When people can leave or retire, they do so as quickly as they can. This leads to poor retention rate of talent that is able to effectively train new generations as well as a purging of experience that can leverage their knowledge to implement long term solutions that would fix the aforementioned problems. A great place to be able to afford a family, they need to give their employees the time to be able to raise one though.
