I worked at Abbott full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Big Company with great people that work though out the company

    Cons

Terrible benefits for all employees that were affected by the merger. HR is the worst that I have seen in my 30 years in the industry. Every division is treated differently within Abbott. Abbott management is more interested in the process rather than results. In the long run this will hurt the company and limit their success.

    Advice to Management

    Fix your HR department.

    I worked at Abbott full-time

    Pros

Well-guided in terms of what they want to teach you.

    Cons

Long hours with no work at hospitals

    Advice to Management

Don't use the intern program as a means of keeping salaries low for a job with high burnout - just pay people fairly and compensate better for odd hours and driving. No mandated and unpaid on-call.

I worked at Abbott full-time for less than a year

    Pros

director of the department is nice. clean place

    Cons

Racist arrogant manager who bullied employees.. Employees are very scared to speak up. So they quit often . . She targeted specific people and favored people based on how good friends they are with her.. zero bonding with her own team.. friendly with other team... Employees learn from manager and do not share materials with everyone in team - very bad team attitude. She also never welcomed any advice, even from other managers in team meetings. Most of the people loathed her. I left for the same reason

I worked at Abbott full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits and company name can be prestigious

    Cons

Very short staffed always, people are moving out to other medical device companies for better work environment and learning opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Need to work for mid-management who are lack of experience, can not utilize individual strengths or build a cohesive team. Extremely high turnover rates for 4 yrs. Managements prefer to bring in no experience people who do not understand products details or any regulations. Employee expertise and background are not considered, qualifications are ignored actually when hired or promoted, based on favoritism only. HR should work more.

I worked at Abbott full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Abbott is a great company to work for, there are a lot of good, fun and hard-working employees.

    Cons

A few of the managers and directors are only still there due to their longevity with the company and not their ability to manage. This is due to how "buddy-buddy" they are with HR, their directors/superiors and anyone who oversees certain locations - and it's very obvious. All of this poorly reflects on the department but nothing is done about it - and in return, it only hurts the workers of said department.

    Advice to Management

If you don't care about your department, get out. A lot of people at that company love what they do and you bring down the morale and the success of their work.
