Pros
No complaints. The benefits are good for a company in a country with an incredibly low bar.
Cons

Not the same company I hired into 20 years ago
Feb 6, 2017 - Technical Analyst in Irving, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I worked at Abbott more than 20 years. I loved it until the last year and a half or so. Pay and benefits were good. You have 401K (that the company contributes to) and well as pension and yearly profit sharing. Start with 3 weeks vacation, increase to 4 at 12 years. Good benefits for medical leave (although not as good as when I started). I was well trained for all of the jobs I did, up until the last one.
Cons
The next to last position I was in had virtually no training and no best practices. The manager was clueless and had obvious favorites in the group. I was informed I was being moved in house after being in the field nearly 10 years. No discussion. I was eventually fired just a few months after my 20th anniversary. I had no conversation with HR, no exit interview. Although I miss a steady paycheck, the company just is not the same as it was when I started. So many departments are now completely remote, and the training programs are not what they once were. My friends who are still there are all overworked and trying to do more with less with no more compensation.

Good People, Stable Organization, Terrible for career growth
Jan 22, 2021 - Senior Financial Analyst in Alameda, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Friendly people for the most part. The company takes good care of its employees in terms of offering competitive salaries and benefits. Additionally it builds great innovative products and has an exciting pipeline as well.
Cons
The company culture is rigid and inflexible. Career advancement is very very slow here, regardless of how much you excel in your role, the culture seems to be geared towards keeping people in the same roles forever, which is pretty terrible especially in competitive markets like the bay area

Pros
Benefits are really good and cheap. Good pay. Eventhough it's a big company it still has that small family like environment. Very knowledgeable individuals that pass down their knowledge.
Cons
Nothing new. Just like every company there is a battle between shifts. Finger pointing on who did this and who did that.
- Former Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
The benefits offered under Abbott were very good and would be considered competitive with the other big players in the industry.
Cons
As with most companies, the benefit prices would increase year over year which is very similar to other companies.

Abbott Diabetes Care .... Not so much care there
Mar 4, 2018 - Marketing in Alameda, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
ADC has great compensation. People stay for the money. Benefits are pretty good (though a bit less than bay area tech standards). FreeStyle Libre is an exciting product and really helps people with diabetes.
Cons
Negative work environment. No work life balance. Expect night and weekend work. You are paid well so the expectation is that you will work all the time. Fire drill focused. Very hierarchical. "Do as your told" culture. Questioning decisions is looked down on and you will be punished if you don't fall in line. Work is not enjoyable.

Pros
Employees are all very knowledgeable in their field and are very professional. A very positive work culture. Everyone is dedicated and responsible. There is a lot of opportunities for learning.
Cons
Some benefits program are actually not as good as some of the smaller companies I worked with before.
- Former Employee, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
The company has a very good benefits and they develop their employees to have an opportunity for advancement inside the organization.
Cons
The company has a sales goal and if they did not meet the goals, chances are they are going to cut down the workforce which means laying off some employees.
