I have been working at Aberdeen Asset Management (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, great benefits, really can't say anything and. They have a great team and great hours. They like to do things outside the office as a group which is very nice and a great way to get to know everyone. Very flexible work wise as well and everyone is very helpful and there if you have questions.

    Cons

Really can't say there are any cons. I haven't been able to come across any so far. I'm sure for people who have been around longer they may have some but not for me yet

    Advice to Management

With the acquisition use it as an opportunity to clean house and get rid of management in the US.

    Pros

Good work-life balance in terms of hours (not working remotely), great benefits, smart people especially investment management teams, opportunities to move globally, outstanding graduate training program

    Cons

The business is driven by back office and compliance, no communication from management in strategy, constantly acquiring and integrating businesses, ridiculous level of deferred pay

    Advice to Management

    Transparency

I worked at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time

    Pros

Benefits are good but change a lot as the company searches for nickels under the sofa

    Cons

No job security; The culture has changed negatively due to all the acquisitions. the CEO is ruthless and doesn't acknowledge that people matter to the business. No loyalty

    Advice to Management

Leave the company. this is no longer a startup it once was. Its a public company that deserves better management making better decisions and actually understanding the business that they are in. Its stunning a public company with a Board can behave this way

I have been working at Aberdeen Asset Management full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good work life balance, nice people, good cross-team engagement, don't fire frequently, good communication top-down, fun summer events, good benefits

    Cons

below average pay - supposedly worth it given less intense hours, important decisions made in London, Philadelphia location not ideal, but fine

    Advice to Management

I would pay more to young analysts either in form of bonus/salary in order to get better talent/incentivize employees to work harder. Would give more power to regional offices.

    Advice to Management

More guidance on the high level goals of the company. More transparency in strategic goals. Clearer linkage of bonus to performance.
