I have been working at Abilene Regional Medical Center full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The team is great on night shift, good teamwork, good communication. Unit manager is great, very supportive, does the best she can with the tools she's been given. Pay is pretty good, benefits are ok. Self scheduling is awesome. HR director actually cares about the staff!

    Cons

Day shift is a bunch of backstabbing, gossipy, rude women. Everyone hired is to day shift leaving nights constantly short. Nurses expected to work multiple units within the department on the same shift and sometimes at the same time. It's a CHS facility and the corporate level doesnt care about anything except money.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Abilene Regional Medical Center for more than 3 years

    Pros

Loved working with my co-workers and patients. 12 hour shifts allow for more days off during the week.

    Cons

The pay was not appropriate. Nurses made less than scrub techs. My nurse manager did not have the nurse's back and would talk bad about fellow co-workers in front of doctors and other nurses.

Not a bad place to start as a PCT but I would go to the metroplex to gain more experience.
