I have been working at Abington Memorial Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nothing nice to say about this place.

    Cons

just quit, this was the worst experience I had in my life!!
Worked as a telephone operator in the Communications Department.
The supervisor was jealous of me and did not want to properly train me, she instead gave me a broom and a mop and instructed me on how I had to swept and mop the floor and empty the trash cans in the office and take them down the hallway.
She then told me their are mice in the room so get used to it and handed me a memo of how she had to get rid of it herself.
She ate Chinese food while she sat with me and it ended up all over my face.
She reported me to a higher up and said that I did not like the job when in fact it was not the job it was her.
    Use caution!

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of the Supervisor!

    Pros

Great co-workers, team approach, great benefits

    Cons

pay for parking pass, management focuses on press ganey survey all the time, constantly something new, which isn't bad however, its quickly implemented with little time for training or education.

I worked at Abington Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people! I worked with all the attending medical staff and their office support staff. My job was to be a liaison between the on and off campus medical practice with the various ancillary services within the main hospital(s) as well as administration and any/all updates as to the ongoing changes/enhancements that the hospitals were undergoing.

    Cons

Very few raises, and minimal at best. There was more emphasis toward the medical practices that were owned by the hospital, predominantly primary care physicians and not enough toward the referring doctors and surgeons.

    Advice to Management

Do more to boost the overall morale of the hospital and remember, even though it has become a huge corporation, never lose focus on making employees feel valued and a part of the big picture.

I have been working at Abington Memorial Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of my peers are also newer nurses - so not a lot of peer bullying . AMH hires RN without their BSN and offers compensation to further education

    Cons

Many of the support staff have an attitude when asked for help (kitchen staff, veni puncture).

    Advice to Management

cap med-surg nurses at 5 patients. Patients are sicker than ever and 6-7 patients each having tests to go to/questions about their care/needing meds crushed in puree is too much for one nurse.
