I have been working at Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a small company that is slowly growing. Great people to work for. Benefits are run of the mill with nothing special or surprising. Schedules are the same as most restaurants that close at 10-11.

    Cons

They don't seem to be opening enough stores for my liking.

    Pros

    Decent pay. Ok benefits.

    Cons

They do not treat their managers very well. Over work them and make it impossible to take any time off. They do not care about quality of life.

    Pros

Nice staff and extremely easy job, not much is asked of you. Get a raise after every 6 months being there

    Cons

Gets boring at times, get in trouble for other people's slack
Have favorites that are never told anything
    You don't get many hours

    I worked at Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant part-time

    Pros

A negligible discount? It isn't really enough you can afford it with their pay rate, but its something.

    Cons

Income based on things beyond your personal control within your position, servers and kitchen workers treat you like a 2nd class citizen, below minimum wage with odd stipulations, almost illegal job practices involving pay, no chance for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Pay your workers more than $100 a week if we work 25~ hours. The "tip" income never showed up on my paycheck.

I worked at Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant (More than a year)

    Pros

I made good money at this job and lot of the customers were very nice , lot of regulars. The food is very good and the kitchen does a pretty good job even during dinner time.

    Cons

Unfortunately, it seemed that the turn over for managers was higher than the server turnover. Also, this may be true for most restaurants but the host/hostess seemed not to care about rotation. The bar was ran by the same people that had been there for a decade and ran it how they want meaning there drinks always got made firs t regardless of order received .

    Advice to Management

Hold the Host and Bar more accountable.

I worked at Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Under old management-

Felt appreciated, lots of events for employees with food+giveaways, games, lots of fun
    Fair treatment
    Great money
    Food quality exceptional and consistent
Managers who cared about your needs as much as the company's
    Professional
Majority of employees stayed for years (very unusual if you know the restaurant business)
    Strong community presence

    Under new management-

None, unless you like being treated like a dog or are good at sucking up

    Cons

    Under old management-

Personal drama but no worse than any restaurant
Extremely busy in the summer, so much so it was difficult to push your way through the crowds

    Under new management-

    Completely unprofessional
Suck ups rewarded while hard workers are used and abused
No appreciation for employees at all, management throws parties and events for themselves but nothing for regular employees
No leadership, management sits in the office watching videos on the computer during the rush and has no interest in making people do their jobs
Regular customers since it opened stopped coming in as much or at all after new management took over(the ones who pay your bills in the winter)
Building not maintained at all, ceiling constantly leaks and leads to mold that they only clean if there's an inspection, holes in walls, things get broken and never replaced, constantly running out of essential items
Food quality terrible and no two plates of the same dish look the same most of the time
Invites weird 'entertainers' to wander around soliciting tips from tables
Quality of clientele dropped a LOT within a year of new management taking over
Orders the absolute cheapest and poorest quality supplies if they provide any at all then complains when they wear out or get broken almost immediately
Fired many long time kitchen employees to pay inexperienced new hires less and bare bones staffs the kitchen leading to ridiculously high turn over from burn out
Corporate apparently has no interest in maintaining any sort of quality at this location
Kitchen crashes under a moderate pop

    Advice to Management

They don't care, all they want is to make the numbers look good on paper so they get bonuses at the expense of everyone else.

I have been working at Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant part-time

    Pros

Usually low FOH and BOH turnover
    Great Customers

    Cons

Management is usually gone and replaced before you learn their first name

    Advice to Management

Focus on your employee's satisfaction and overall well being a little more, after all they are the FACE of the business.
