Great Atmosphere at the Flower Campus
Oct 20, 2022 - 2nd Grade TeacherRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
They raised pay this month for all campus staff which includes back pay to the start of the school year. They are also moving to a 180 day school year instead of a 200 day school year. Admin is great at my campus.
Cons
-Friends at other campuses say not all Admin are as supportive as mine -Current long school year but this is the last year for that

Good job if you can handle being a teacher
Dec 7, 2022 - 4th Grade Teacher in Phoenix, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You get to work with some great kids. You get to improve your teaching skills. You get to make a difference in the lives of kids.
Cons
Admin have some very unrealistic expectations when it comes to state standards. The AZ standards are way too high for kids that don't even know basic multiplication or vocabulary. We are expected to move at a fast pace when students can't even master the first lessons taught. Teachers and staff come and go like crazy. It can at times become very demoralizing also quite isolating when you are constantly seeing a new staff face. Some teachers that get hire leave so fast it's quite disturbing. Yes, the kids can be very tough but if you can't control them, they will control you. Sign up for the job if you are willing to do it and stay for the full contract year. I'm definitely not here for the pay. If you are, this is not the job for you. Only be here if you want to or are called to be here.

Pros
We have a uniform Mission and Vision in our campuses that really focus of student success. We are network who recognizes that there will always be challenges, improvements, and growing pains in the journey! Despite any frustration we may face- our common goal allows all of us to work past differences. You might not be best friends with everyone you work with outside of school, but knowing you can have those professional, passionate conversations where you can both offer insight on how to help the students because we know that at the end of the day the student's wellbeing and education is number 1! I have truly never been happier in a job position, and I have worked many different industries haha!
Cons
With the size and capacity of our network it can inherently make it difficult to streamline communication! Though we work diligently to assure we connect on all concerns- it can sometimes leave a feeling of lacking urgency or acknowledgement to candidates or staff, and NO one enjoys feeling unheard!

Pros
I love working for AMS because this employer really ensures you grow, not only professionally but personally as well. I have had the opportunity to work on both the things I am great at and the things I am not so great at, allowing me to develop as an individual. The environment is healthy and inviting. I absolutely enjoy working with the Registrar team because they bring light to everydays work through team interactions and a show of support. The regional registrars and the COO make sure you succeed and I love that for myself and my team. My office team is amazing also. From participating in spirit week to coordinating enrollment together my office team really make my days here worth coming in every morning as we share a common interest of being passionate about what we do for our students. My supervisor Margaret Hayes and John Paquin are super amazing also as they are kind and undrstanding, not to mention support me in my role to ensure my success. I love my job as a registrar! <3
Cons
The only two cons I can truly say about AMS is there is not enough community involvement at the virtual academy, as in the schools uniting together for community events like kickball, or car washing or volunteer work. The second con is we don't have a take your children to work day or a take your parent to school day.

Red Flags Everywhere
Sep 28, 2022 - Full Time Teacher in Glendale, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Opportunity to help inspire kids that need it the most; however, the same could be said about literally any title 1 school.
Cons
Employees without fingerprint clearance cards. Lack of support from principals and deans. Teacher In Residence=lack of safety for kids and a huge detriment to overall success; however, it is a great way for the school to show employee “growth” and retention of staff. Double standards for specials teachers and interventionists beyond the scope of teacher work agreement. Bullying and aggressive targeting from Admin Nepotism/favoritism. Some departments do not have an academic team at a network level. Safety issues not addressed properly. BTW when you resign, there is no convenient ability to access signed documents such as contracts without contacting the school. Make sure that you screenshot/download everything onto your own hard drive.
