I worked at Academy Sports & Outdoors part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    you get an employee discount

    Cons

retail customers, bad hours, long time on your feet

    Advice to Management

Make sure employees carry their weight and reward them for doing so. There is no incentive to get their tasks done in a timely fashion. Come up with an idea like a competition of who can zone the best the fastest or something along those lines so employees don't have to stay so late after closing.

I have been working at Academy Sports & Outdoors full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is not seniority promoting. It doesn't how long you have been at Academy, they are will to promote and pay top talent. Benefits are good, and 401K is better. Good opportunities to make bonus. The more years you put in the more vacation you get.

    Cons

Schedule is all over the place, no consistency even for managers. Corporate office and stores are never on the same page. A lot of double work happens due to this. Payroll is also all over the place.

    Advice to Management

Just get on the same page. Support your team, realize without them we can't run a business. Managers need more sick time, or an allotted amount each year, 2 hours each paycheck is kind of a joke. Managers also deserve a chance at a more predictable and steady schedule.

    Advice to Management

Try managing the hours better. even though it might not be always in controllable. a happy employee will do the best work.
