I have been working at Academy Sports & Outdoors full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee discount, we act as a family and we honestly treat customers like family.

    Cons

Lack of commitment to processes at corporate level and the marketing is horrible. We're not innovative.

    Advice to Management

I encourage all corporate positions, if they have not done so already, to work at a store level. It's one thing to assume how a customer thinks, but to see how a customer thinks is the game changer.

I worked at Academy Sports & Outdoors part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Academy Sports and outdoors was a fun and well paced work environment... perfect for a 2nd job in the evenings or mornings... also perfect for your first job out of highschool.

    Cons

My store was constantly undergoing changes in management, and the Store Director that was in charge when I left the store was a complete buffoon, but that doesn't really matter at this type of job... just something else to deal with. Big cons here is that there really isn't anywhere for you to go career-wise... so make sure you use this as a pit stop and not much else.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate at the store level a little more... the store director that came in at the end of my tenure instilled ridiculous policies and hoops to jump through and it directly resulted in a drop in sales performance for the entire store.
