Was great until corporate took over
Apr 19, 2023 - Substance Abuse Counselor in Pinehurst, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It is fulfilling work and the coworkers are amazing.
Cons
Went from a good profit/patient care ratio but now the corporation now only cares about billable services. I know corporations care about money but you don't have to be soulless. At the ground level everyone is amazing, once you go higher than an individual facility it is corporate people that have no idea what it is actually like to work at a facility or do your job but they will come up with a new metric every week to tell you how you are failing sand purposely not meet the bonus criteria and if you improve your metrics they make a new one. There are too many corporate positions that literally make up things for you to do arbitrarily so they can justify having a job. TLDR corporate is soulless and only focused on profits, the boots on the ground are amazing.

There Are Pros and Cons
Mar 25, 2023 - Substance Abuse Counselor in Clarksburg, WVRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Emotionally fulfilling. You’re changing lives and patients don’t hesitate to tell you the difference you’ve made in theirs. The majority of my coworkers are wonderful to work with. The practitioners/physicians are wonderful and the medical director is stellar. Hours are convenient if you are a parent with a child in school. Management lets you flex your hours if you need to for appointments as long as you still work all your hours and keep them in the loop.
Cons
Corporate is about the bottom dollar more than patient care. It can be disheartening at times. There’s a lot of red tape working in MAT. The pay isn’t nearly what you can make at some other treatment centers with the same experience and education.

Pros
Most staff members not only care about their coworkers and patients but they show they care and work well together. Hourly pay rate is decent.
Cons
Unit can be divided and disorganized at times. Higher RN to patient ratio than other similar psychiatric facilities. Healthcare benefits contain higher than average copays. PTO less than avg at other facilities. Could use additional security staff or standing orders for violent patients.

Fun workplace environment and great team, mixed management
Mar 23, 2023 - in Nashville, TNRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The Service Desk Team is incredible to work with. Everyone on the team is fantastic and cares about one another. The workplace environment is fun and constructive.
Cons
The Service Desk Team is alone and isolated in a satellite office. As a result, information tends to not reach the team in a timely fashion which creates a lot of friction in your day to day responsibilities. A side component of that is that Service Desk staff are essentially never considered for promotion to higher level teams since IT leadership is not aware of the skills some of the SD staff have, so advancing your career here is essentially impossible.

Good opportunities

Great company and opportunity to grow. Working for Acadia gives you room to grow and good opportunities. Everyone is nice and supportive.
Cons
Not enough time off. Things can get overwhelming and stressful. Some managers have to much on their plate when others don’t.

Pros
Excellent Mission, excellent support from leaders and from peer colleagues, great learning environment; growing company with growth opportunities
Cons
Matrix organization, too many levels of approval to get something through, benefits are expensive, company does not pay a decent percentage of the premiums, too costly for many support staff as it is based on salary; not real learning and development department - training is all on-line; for a company this size, should be a true dedicated L&D team; Leadership is more worried about growth than than the employees they have. Growth will not matter if they do not take care of the line employee, you won't have any employees to care for your patients. It feels like this company has just started to embrace the importance of HR. There are so many program that are not in place that a company of this size and history would have done that already, i.e. Anniversary recognition programs, Tuition Reimbursement Programs - why are we lacking in these important areas to employees. Finally, as corporate is cut off from the rest of the organization, there is a horrible disconnect between the facilities/CTC and the corporate office. Fix that!

Pros
I have worked at Acadia Healthcare for 2 years and plan to retire from here. I love what the company stands for, that you can voice your opinion to your superiors and it feels like family.
Cons
It can be stressful dealing with mental and behavioral health kids which is why it’s important for us to practice our own self care.
