    Pros

Insurance - although it can be expensive, at least you can get good coverage

    Cons

Lots of changes going on. Great place to get some experience but don't expect job security or ability to move up in salary...ever.

I worked at Acadia Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

room to advance, small education reimbursement, good place to get started in A&D.

    Cons

Employees are squeezed for everything they can do for the patients. Caseloads are unrealistic, very little if any case management, not enough time to give the patients. The company is driven by numbers and employees and patients are under undo stress as a result.

    Advice to Management

Cut caseloads so better patient care can be provided.

I have been working at Acadia Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Most of the counselors are really professional.

    Cons

There are productivity goals which are not realistic setting up all new counselors to fall short. The first three months to a year is constant pressure to meet goals for units of billed counseling. It's similar to the TPS reports on that movie Office Space.

    Advice to Management

Counselors are not salespeople. Counselors value shouldn't be judged by units billed but by long-term progress of their patients.

I worked at Acadia Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay was very competitive, including good bonus potential. For the most part friendly employees at all levels within the company. Many of the senior management team were supportive. It is a big company with lots of opportunity.

    Cons

Toward the end of my tenure, the company began hiring under qualified employees in local management roles. I believe it was short term strategy to save money. However, it had negative affects on some locations. Occasionally senior management would make "cookie cutter" directives for all companies that did not always work at a local level. I worked with some divisional personnel used 20+ year old management techniques (shame and intimidation). Lots of turnover in divisional leadership.

    Pros

Rewarding work, therapeutic environment, opportunities to be creative

    Cons

poor pay, understaffed, stressful, poor management

    Advice to Management

be more focused on client care and employee satisfaction than on the bottom line.

I worked at Acadia Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company provides training for clinicians who need continuing education units. The strict guidelines for patients encourage patient engagement. The salary is decent.

    Cons

The company employees managers who are incapable of juggling their responsibilities. Consistently there is a lack of cohesion between management and staff. Treatment with Acadia Healthcare is focused on revenue and not patient welfare. There are very limited opportunities for advancement or growth within the company.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to go home at their scheduled time. Promote patient welfare instead of revenue. Create realistic expectations for employees and patients. Listen to feedback from employees. Improve communication between management and employees. Reduce the caseloads and productivity incentives to reduce overall stress. Create and maintain a more productive environment; give employees incentives instead of demands.

I worked at Acadia Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Some of the staff were wonderful.

    Cons

Management is horrible. Central/top management is extremely greedy. Buying hospitals right and left while they have massive layoffs at facilities they already own to keep their expenses down and stock prices up. Very short turn oriented and ruthless.

    Advice to Management

    Get lobotomies
