U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Hey everyone, I’m wanting to transition to tech from healthcare. I have 5 years experience, working front office (clinic scheduling, admin etc), currently back office (referrals, prior authorizations) , I have basic medical billing/coding knowledge & also provider credentialing experience. Any recommendations for tech roles that could be a fit with my background? I do NOT want to be in customer service or call center type role if at all possible though.

    Money hungry

Apr 30, 2022 - SUDPT in Lakewood, WA

    Pros

Working at a methadone clinic in general gives a trainee a vast amount of experience quickly due to high caseloads and many clients. I was lucky that At the time that I worked I did get along with all my coworkers, supervisor and Director. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have stayed at this company for the year and a half that I did Getting underpaid.

    Cons

Even with the extraordinarily caseload and being short staffed all the time after a year employees complained of a very small raise. It’s a corporation and you get the feel that they are always finding ways to cut corners to save money and unfortunately it affects Employees checks. This company is known to pay less than other clinics in the area and that is why I have moved to another methadone clinic which I make now about three dollars more an hour as a trainee.

    Apr 19, 2022 - Manager
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great people to work with, very hard working for those who wish to stay.

    Cons

Wish upper management would listen to employees. Acadia is always trying to become bigger and bigger rather than trying to improve on what they have. The constant growth has created inconsistencies in every area, causing employees to always question what is right.

    Pros

I loved the people I work with.

    Cons

Corporate ruins their hospitals and doesn’t care about employees. They’re not interested in loyalty and couldn’t care less who works for them, as long as there’s a body. If there isn’t enough staff, it doesn’t matter, they are fine with putting staff’s license in jeopardy.
