I worked at Acadia Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company provides training for clinicians who need continuing education units. The strict guidelines for patients encourage patient engagement. The salary is decent.

    Cons

The company employees managers who are incapable of juggling their responsibilities. Consistently there is a lack of cohesion between management and staff. Treatment with Acadia Healthcare is focused on revenue and not patient welfare. There are very limited opportunities for advancement or growth within the company.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to go home at their scheduled time. Promote patient welfare instead of revenue. Create realistic expectations for employees and patients. Listen to feedback from employees. Improve communication between management and employees. Reduce the caseloads and productivity incentives to reduce overall stress. Create and maintain a more productive environment; give employees incentives instead of demands.

I worked at Acadia Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Some of the staff were wonderful.

    Cons

Management is horrible. Central/top management is extremely greedy. Buying hospitals right and left while they have massive layoffs at facilities they already own to keep their expenses down and stock prices up. Very short turn oriented and ruthless.

    Advice to Management

    Get lobotomies

I have been working at Acadia Healthcare full-time

    Pros

The pros are that you will feel a great deal of. personal satisfaction from helping your patients..

    Cons

This company is money hungry greedy. The do not truly care for the patients they're just out to make a buck and take manage of the opioid crisis. They should not be trusted.Leadership is a joke and over all corporate management doesn't seem to know what they're doing and the right hand never knows with the left hand is doing. This company does not have any integrity whatsoever. I am still an employee with them but hope to be leaving very soon .

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is simple; Sell the company and get out of this business. You don't belong in it- your intentions are not genuine or sincere. Sell your the company to someone who knows how to run a business even a health care "for profit" business, but who knows how to be profitable without compromising patient care!

    Pros

Able to gain lots of experience as a counselor. Good contacts treating patients. Good co-workers in the trenches.

    Cons

Out of touch upper organization. Chronically understaffed. Have to even do without janitorial staff to keep the place clean. Have to do without office manager or secretary to help with administration. Depressed pay. Not getting credit for all the extra duties performed.

I have been working at Acadia Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some pay is a bit higher than average

    Cons

Management tasks are almost Dilbert like, waste your time, and have nothing to do with the day to day tasks to manage a substance abuse clinic. No upward mobility without out of state relocation if at all. Senior management is not local, has NO experience related to the worksite, and is basically fluff costumed as expertise.

    Advice to Management

Do NOT hire BA level management to supervise MA and PhD level clinicians. Change for profit status to non profit for Methadone clinic branch of company to eliminate slimy used car salesman feel

I have been working at Acadia Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Availability on occasion to try and help individuals when allowed.

    Cons

Overworked, underpaid, low staff, upper management lie, Acadia is money hungry, no respect for patients or employees, doctors are rude and uncaring, unsafe, the list goes on.

    Advice to Management

Owners need to fire them all and start over with honest, caring individuals. Company needs to be more concerned with patient care rather than the almighty $.

    Pros

Most of my co workers were really great and made going to work bearable.

    Cons

Everything else. Not very flexible working hours. Zero understanding of people with families. Upper management that only cares about numbers and bottom lines and treated every employee like a number. Knee-jerk reaction "trainings" every other day to implement a change in policy or cover their butts.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like humans. Get a structured curriculum for employees and the needless and wasted time on "trainings" can be used on actually working.

I have been working at Acadia Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoy working with the clients - and that I rarely, if ever see or hear from my supervisor or anyone in management.

    Cons

They have us over a barrel as there are very few jobs in our rural area. There is a shortage of licensed clinicians so programs are closing or staff is hired who should not have been even given an interview. Communication is non existent or hostile, depending on the day and the mood of our CEO. One survives best by laying low and not speaking up - a coworker asked about an error on her paycheck was was called out about it. Good supervisors keep leaving and it is clear that they are overworked, underpaid and not supported at all by management. Having one person cover 20 programs that are spread out so far geographically is just wrong. Before the recent changes, people wanted to work here and would have done anything for our former supervisor - she left when the BS got too bad.

    Advice to Management

Invest in an EMR and you would reduce your paybacks substantially as well as help support the teams in being timely and accurate with their documentation. Time should be spent working with clients, not on hand typing out documentation.

    Pros

    Flexible Schedule
    Nice area
    Somehwhat nice coworkers
I really dont know anything else to say as far as pros, i just need the words so it lets me through

    Cons

Managment has absolutely no idea what they are doing. The turnover is horrendous. Every single year there is a shift in Managment, there is always a hunt for a scapegoat from upper management, they place incompetent directors just so they can get rid of them and throw them under the bus. You will get absolutely no training. There are no meetings, no productivity numbers, no quality assurance, you dont even know if you are doing a good or bad job, because there is no feedback. People are promised new systems to work with and nothing ever happens. This place is a joke , i honestly dont know how it has survived this long.

    Pros

Co-Workers give it 100%, with a great attitude to the best of their ability. Helping people turn their lives around. Understanding managers. Making a difference in so many lives. Proud of the work you have accomplished.

    Cons

Micro-managing. Split shifts, senior management. Not willing change the disastrous way things are managed. Not willing to admit the problems lay within. Extremely high turn over rate. Not willing to give back to the employees that give their all. Draining position everyday.

    Advice to Management

Balancing employee needs and business needs can be challenging for any company. Take some time and make the simple easy changes to keep your employees happy and help reduce the extremely high turnover. Work for the people and the people will work for you. When there is an obvious problem stop and ask yourself is there something different we should be doing rather than just trying to overlook our own internal mistakes. Micro-managing is not the answer to the problems.
