I worked at Acapulco/EL Torito Restaurants full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its good to know youre working at an establishment thats been around for over 40 years. The authentic fresh ingredient food is delicious, it feels good knowing youre serving your guests quality.

    Cons

El Torito was as good as it possibly could have been. No one is ever going to get rich serving tacos at El Torito. The management was caring, my coworkers were always nice and helpful

    Advice to Management

Implement pre-shift meetings. Its awkward having to find out the 86 list after a customer has already tried to order it, hearing through the grapevine about changes, etc.

    Cons

No growth, mediocre pay, bonus hard to hit, and paid late

    Advice to Management

Take a chance and open some restaurants...tough market in CA...go national

    - month long training (without tips) regardless of experience

I worked at Acapulco/EL Torito Restaurants full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very fast paced environment. Cultural. Festive.

    Cons

They cared about labor percentages that impacted the guest experience and ultimately would result in a negative experience.

    I worked at Acapulco/EL Torito Restaurants part-time

    Pros

The work was not too hard, but there wasn't too many things to say that were good about the job

    Cons

Did not change employees schedules until they saw you couldn't work, so you'd have to not show up to work at the times you said you couldnt. Manager kept big parties tabs open for entire bar, scheduling was unorganized, may be scheduled for two different titles at once(busser &host). Did not separate tips well, bussers would keep money that was meant to be split.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers that actually care about the employees and figure out something to do about the way you treat customers.

    Pros

El Torito is a very pretty restaurant with nice Coworkers.

    Cons

But it is pretty slow paced unless they are under staffed, it's not very busy either.

    Pros

Robert Winters. He's the best - everyone else is horrible.

    Cons

    It's a giant mess. Don't get involved.

    Advice to Management

Close up shop while you can get a nickel for this thing.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, other employees are friendly and get along well for the most part,

    Cons

Shifts are really short, typically 2-3 hours, management is always changing, people aren't trained properly, the whole place is a mess, schedule comes out one day before the week starts

    Advice to Management

management needs to learn to work better together because they always have conflicting views and are telling employees different things

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Acapulco/EL Torito Restaurants full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is absolutely nothing positive to say about this company. They are so completely desperate to fill positions because most people will not work there that they will simply lie to you in oder to fill vacancies.

    Cons

This company blatantly turns a blind eye to their illegal hiring practices. They knowingly have literally thousands of illegal aliens on their payroll, but do not do anything to thoroughly check their employment status because, again, they are desperate to fill positions.

    Advice to Management

Stop the illegal employment of migrant workers by actually checking resident status.
