    Pros

It was a very high pace medical shop.

    Cons

Not enough workers with the right knowledge in the upper management

    Advice to Management

Have more faith in the workers on the floor actually making the product

I worked at Accellent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay was generous because of previous ownership. Plenty of overtime hours if you're liked or favored. A lot of great coworkers

    Cons

All levels of management make you feel disposable. Corporate/ upper management contact cutoff from hourly workers. Too much favoritism. Most coworkers are great people however management has made it a cut throat atmosphere. Uneducated supervisor holds grudges just by your appearance, not how you work or present yourself. Have seen impossible production rates put in place on specific machines just to fire people. strictly a numbers game... Make rate, make rate, make rate. PERIOD. Entire departments were "eliminated" after rumors of trying to organize.

    Advice to Management

If you want to make it to the "top 10 places to work, Get rid of the uneducated supervisors lacking people skills, make people feel appreciated. Don't justify making people work in fear with wages & OT. This company could be an amazing life long place to work.

    Pros

Upper management very engaged and tuned in to the every day activities. The leadership is strong and most employees are very dedicated.

    Cons

My manager was often nowhere to be found. He would bounce around between meetings and was difficult to pin down. Production floor can be very unorganized - work instructions are pretty much nonexistent.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to invest heavily in training materials and cross-training production staff. Too often production could be halted because a few people missed a shift.

    Pros

Salary was generous, hours decent, plant is well maintained

    Cons

too many people stabbing others in the back. whoever was the first one into HR was the one believed regardless of the evidence. Cliques were the norm. I witnessed this many times HR and plant managers were replaced with disgusting regularity. Managing styles were wildly different and there was no opportunity to actually become efficient in your job as the requirements were constantly being changed. There was no stability in upper management. This constant revolving door and different cultures created in the plant I worked at made the associates on the floor very afraid for their job security (as well as middle management). They would leave for new job opportunities that seemed more secure and better paid which created a massive headache in production trying to keep quality standards at an acceptable level. Quality was a joke in many instances, the constant question was " how many are like that?" and if it was a large number they were let through the system.

    Advice to Management

try to retain decent management who balance the associates needs and the corporates needs. Corporate needs to take a hard look at what they are expecting and how it impacts on how the associates are expected to do their jobs. Profits are great but if quality is not the first objective and people allowed to do their jobs in such a way to assure that quality, I fear the medical products produced here will be inferior and someone may suffer in the future.

I have been working at Accellent full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits and salary are typical of the industry.

    Cons

Work load is excessive and hard to keep up with it. This definitely has negative effect on work life balance. In their defense they have tried to staff up but very few candidates accepted offers. This was even true during a tight economy. I suspect that the company reputation is what kept people from accepting offers. Not the worst employer I have ever worked for , but far from the best.

    Pros

Nice co-workers, nice location, lower-level employees go out of way for peers, advancement opportunities are poor, poor training

    Cons

Very sexist, indifference regarding following regulatory procedures, ignores female input, can overhear screaming at closed door meetings, incompetent males permitted to remain in authority because they're males, favoritism

I worked at Accellent full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some interesting manufacturing processes, but your job will be focused on repairing all of the disorganization within the operations procedures caused by former employees and lack of leadership.

    Cons

Overwhelming workload, and overtime is almost expected. The company doesn't care about anything but cost savings. A large portion of the workforce are temporary employees, many with no previous experience. High turnover rates amongst hourly and salaried employees. Most of the professionals are just waiting until something better comes up.

    Advice to Management

Invest in new technologies, develop proprietary processes. Hire sales people that can actually get the company work. Learn to make profit by manufacturing new products and find new work that has a decent margin, instead of trying to extract profit from old work through cost savings.
