I worked at Accenture full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stable, average pay, many well intended people

    Cons

    - Massive talent dilution through down leveling roles to off-shore specialists without proper experience or knowledge transfer
    - Paralyzed by very poor data and finance management practices
    - still run by a combination of Sales (conflict of interest) and extremely home grown finance practices. Both functions are uninterested in truly improving internal processes as it cuts into short term profitability.
    - High level execs are often brought into the wrong positions at the wrong pay scale and then have to absorb massive amounts of administrative work because the off-shore specialists the replaced competent people have no idea what to do which effects performance.
    - No matter how hard you push to make things better, you are working with masses of people at the top that have been at Accenture for 20-30+ years who believe they are the best at everything, have never experienced anything different and are impossible to get to change.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the push back and understand the true cost of divesting in talent, having out of control data and finance practices.

I worked at Accenture full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work life balance in the Tech Labs is very good. Lots of PTOs.

    Cons

The office is very hierarchical. Egos at every turn. Condescending managers who talk down to their team, inadequate yet entitled and stagnant management, absolutely no room for growth, high turnover and lack of transparency. Salary is much lower than the market.

    Advice to Management

Focus on investing in employees. You talk a big game about wanting to be innovative and then run away scared from any innovation. Promote people concerned with doing great work, not those who you hang out with every day. In general needs to address why there has been so much turnover and begin focusing on treating employees with more respect.

    Pros

Great exposure, you get to learn a lot, generous vacation, collaborative culture

    Cons

low pay compared to the amount of work that needs to be done

    Advice to Management

If you do not pay well you will attract the wrong talent. Get rid of the 20+ year experienced partners who are not learning anything new.

I worked at Accenture (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good location in downtown San Jose

    Cons

Bad management all the way to the top. Great people are constantly let go and this is the only place I've ever been employed where I felt discriminated against. People are not judged based on merit but rather who you are friends with. Would not accept another position there decided to leave instead.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people who are actually doing the work and built the business to succeed.

I have been working at Accenture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pretty much manage yourself as far as benefits and finding roles are concerned. If you are lucky enough to get on a good project, you could learn a lot and advance.

    Cons

Promotions are handled by a career counselor (someone more than often who doesn't know you or your work ethic), which could mean no promotion at all. You could be so unlucky to remain at the same level for years with the same pay but doing more work.

    Advice to Management

Take time to appreciate the people you manage for without them, you could not look as good as you do. Help others along, especially if they helped you reach your potential.

I worked at Accenture (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Salary & Benefits
    Travel if you are single
Knowledge Database if you are new
Learning if you want to self learn

    Cons

Too large to be heard. No proper HR to approach. Some Senior person is assigned as your career counselor who also acts like HR. Learned over period that you move ahead if you "Suck Up" to someone, do donkeys work like selecting wines, throw in your resignation after getting another job appointment letter.

    Advice to Management

If you do not line up promotional process having proper HR instead of leaving it to the wills and whims of Directors and Sr Managers, there will be a drain in talent. I have seen some extremely talented folks leave during my stay, which is rare.

I worked at Accenture full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some good managers who give structured feedback, lots of opportunities to learn new technical skills

    Cons

Cumbersome procedures and training. They rank employees against each other and hire a ton of undergrads straight out of school who know nothing and the pay the developers who do the work less than them

    Advice to Management

Too many managers and business analysts, not enough developers who can do the work

I have been working at Accenture full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They are great about their stock sharing program and health insurance benefits, but not much else at this point

    Cons

They have turned into a company focused on the bottom line, letting folks go, but continuing to recruit from colleges and hiring people that are no where near the standard that was set years ago. It usually takes me 4-6 months as a manager to find an analyst with the right attitude, intelligence, and work ethic to fit our team and other managers I know are running into the same issues

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on the bottom line and began to realign your focus to your people

    Pros

Great compensation package. You will learn a lot. Work with smart people. Flexible hours. Lots of PTO. Diverse environment. Great culture.

    Cons

They take care of you really well as long as they need you. But they drop you like a hot potato as soon as they don't need you anymore. It doesn't matter if you're a great employee.

    Advice to Management

Please take care of your best people even after they roll off.

    Pros

Relaxed dress code, downtown location, Starbucks in lobby. Outside of that not many. Company is falling apart and essentially awful at knowing who should be staying and who should have been gone years ago. Won't hesitate to screw you over that's for sure.

    Cons

Watch the movie Mean Girls. If you aren't friends with managers outside of work good luck. Hours suck as well.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to employees who actually work hard.
