I have been working at Accenture full-time

    Pros

Benefits are good. Accenture's corporate office has a very inviting and open culture. No cubicles and people there are very friendly and are easy to talk to.

    Cons

Accenture Federal Services (AFS) is very different from Accenture LLP. No training structure after orientation which makes it incredibly hard, especially for entry level analysts to understand the work and how to do it. Management is too busy to help you get started, career advancement is very difficult. You are paid less than everyone in the commercial side. AFS is promoted as if it structured the same as Accenture LLP, but unfortunately that is not the case.

Note: Most new analysts are not assigned to a project once they are hired and have to apply for a project assignment. It is as if you are applying for a job, within a job.

    Advice to Management

Create a training structure that will help new analysts understand the work and how to do it, as well as their specific duties. Become more available for educating new analysts on how the work should be fulfilled and completed.

    Advice to Management

Provide clearer vision for personal development and access to training

I have been working at Accenture full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Some of the best people to work with
    - Great opportunity to travel
    - Great place to begin your career

    Cons

    - Sometimes you're just another number (rules of the business)
    - Red tape - need to be aggressive to get what you want

    Pros

It's a solid company. It's not perfect to be sure, and they will be the first to admit it, and to quote former CEO, Bill Green, who I met twice, "on our worst days, we are very good.... On our best days, no one can beat us..." I believe that is true.

Was there for 15 years. Three times, I had a life event (family member passing, illness, etc.), and every time, the Senior Managers and Managing Directors had my back. That's the payback for working long and hard hours - life throws a curveball, they understand - that's my experience anyway.

They take their Value Statements VERY seriously... I like that.

    Cons

Not so much a con, just a statement of being in the IT industry. There will be here as in any other highly competitive consulting firm, a re-org every couple of years. That's just life.

It is now a quite large company. Strongly recommend taking the notion of the Career Counselor very seriously. That's how you survive.

    Advice to Management

Just keep doing what you are doing. The North America lead (Julie Sweet) is fantastic.

I worked at Accenture (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Fairly good pay
    - Was in federal practice so hours were short for consulting
    - Big company so network is big (can also be a con because it's easy to feel lost)

    Cons

    - Boring work for consulting (long term IT implementations)
    - Pay does not increase quickly at all (made similar amount of money first and third year despite getting top ratings each year)

    Pros

High exposure, average salary, good team members

    Cons

you have to be lucky in joining one of the state of the art projects otherwise you will be stuck forever

    Advice to Management

They don't have the good technical expertise, they just manage

I have been working at Accenture full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work in many different industries with people from varying backgrounds. Work life balance is excellent. Supportive leadership. Opportunities for career progression in many areas of finance.

    Cons

Focus on low cost rather than quality of back office operations. Definite push to off shore many roles. Back office opportunities are definitely seen as secondary to client facing both in salary and career growth.

    Pros

Good standing in the field, very professional, good benefits, good opportunities for employment, really work to build relationships with employees, strong commitment to giving back to the community, state of the art technology

    Cons

I have no cons to mention! However, I find that I don't care much for the job of a contractor, and that's the only kind of work that Accenture offers.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! You're a class act!
