I worked at Accenture full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Somewhat progressive company with good compensation and benefits. The work is usually interesting and there are some great people within the company.

    Cons

Availability of projects (and by extension, good projects) are definitely dependent on who you know. There are also some not so great people in the company. This is a publicly traded company so focus is on revenue and profit and like many consulting companies you can be on a project with long hours out of town.

I have been working at Accenture full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits, especially 401K 6% match. Decent pay for the work.

    Cons

Very few opportunities for growth in Austin, TX. Management changes frequently on each project so you cannot rely on any type of career counseling or advice as the next manager claims your previous manager steered you wrong and then brings in "their person" and gives them the job you were promised. I have seen it happen multiple times on one project. If you are salaried you are expected to work long hours but you... are also expected to "punch a clock" i.e. be there exactly (to the minute) on time, and take a full hour lunch.

    Advice to Management

Provide career counselors separate from project managers. Do not allow new managers to politicize promotions. Promote from within.

I worked at Accenture full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Learned more about the world and business than I would have in another job; great teammates; surplus of volunteer opportunities and ways to give back; fun team-oriented culture; lots of drinks/dinners/hikes with project teams and to mingle with others in your division in the company.

    Cons

Long hours; too much focus on chargeability; treated as a resource not a human sometimes when managers get stressed.

    Advice to Management

Focus on making employees at the bottom of the pyramid feel appreciated and allow them to develop their unique skills/strengths as opposed to force them into roles due to timing and chargeability.

I have been working at Accenture full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits are good (401k options and match, decent health benefits, 5 weeks paid time off, flexible schedules in some cases). Challenging and interesting work is available.

    Cons

Consulting work can be a real grind with long hours and travel. Moving between projects can be a challenging shift.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on quality and keeping your people happy, not just on the bottom line.
