Pros
Great benefits:PTO, 401K, HSA, Gym reimbursement, Commuting, etc. Hybrid schedule Diverse technologies: wind, solar and battery projects Can be a great learning curve for new graduates or anyone new to the renewable industry as you will be assigned real work.
Cons
-Every department seems to be running LEAN (aka not enough people to do the work). Expect to wear multiple hats. -Lack of prioritization. Sometimes it may feel like everything needs to be done now and there's no time to breathe. -In E&C department, you will likely be micromanaged (micromanagement can be extreme especially when there's tight deadline to be met) -HIGH turnover, primarily for 2 reasons: 1)existing employees are underpaid compared to market and can easily find new opportunities somewhere else paying top dollars. 2) people that remain with the company are forced to take on more work with work/life balance further deteriorating. These 2 factors create a vicious cycle. -Project development and construction phases are rushed to meet investors expectations at the detriment of quality, safety and operational excellence. Equipment failures, not doing all due diligence, near misses are common. -Management acts and talks like they have solutions, knows what to do, but it's all a farce. -Did I mention irrelevant training to your role you are forced to take in E&C? -Did I mention the draconian bi-annual employee performance review you will have to go through?

This was a great environment to learn, but the work environment could be hostile.

I was given the opportunity to be heavily involved in wind construction projects from start to finish, and gained valuable experience in project planning, contract management, project implementation, and construction. I also found the on-site safety program at Acciona to be particularly thorough, and I am proud to have contributed to its success during my time with the company.
Cons
This account is only intended to apply to Acciona US. My experience working at Acciona US was mainly positive, with some rough patches peppered throughout. During my time at Acciona, I was one of few people on-staff at the time who had a PE license because I had previously spent 7 years prior to joining Acciona working as a design consultant. Towards the end of my time at Acciona, I was asked to sign-off as a primary reference for someone whom I had never had "direct supervision/responsible charge" as required by the applicable state board requirements for licensure. During the the entire time period for which I was being requested to account for, I had worked on a different project and had also been physically located in a different state from the applicant. When initially asked to provide my endorsement, I requested that I be given sufficient opportunity to supervise this individual on a part-time basis so that I could truthfully account for this individual's experience and capabilities, and my request was denied full stop. When I refused a second time, my experience as an employee shifted significantly, and I felt like my senior management became more hostel towards me. I decided to resign from my position soon after this because I felt that my standing within the company had become severely compromised, and did not see much potential to improve under these conditions. I was so repulsed by this experience and its potential implications for the industry as a whole, I obtained my next position in a completely different industry.

Acciona has been an excellent employer, it has a great culture and great people. They take the time to train you and they give you the independence you need to manage your duties in a responsible and efficient way. They are always open to new things and they push you to get better at your job.
Cons
So far, I haven't encountered anything that has to de a con for this company.

Run away from the US division
May 19, 2022 - Anonymous Employee in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Lots of decent people trying to do good work. O&M group seems better than the rest. Office personnel can work remote a couple days per week (assigned). Low-balled my pay when hired, but have been catching up. Good benefits.
Cons
Spain HQ is disconnected from reality with the required volume, cost, and schedule of US projects. All they do is happy-talk, then push useless standards and processes that just make our lives harder. They are always caught off-guard when something predictably goes wrong. US leadership drinks that Kool-Aid, then pushes for still more output despite very limited personnel. Micromanagement and busywork waste a ton of time; you'll put in lots of nights and weekends just trying to keep up. Projects are always acquired in a hurry without proper diligence, resulting in complications that everyone will get blamed for. HR gets onto this site and writes positive reviews to fool you. Questionable ethics when trying to save some money, even though we have to do a million hours of quality and safety training.

Pros
Pay and benefits were above market.
Cons
Engineering and Construction is headed by a micromanager that makes literally every decision in the department. No trust in personnel to make decisions. No work-life balance and no empathy for employees. Management by intimidation and borderline harassment of employees. Upper management CEO (US), management in Spain, and HR see what is happening and either refuse to do anything or don't care. Heavy turnover affects the continuity of teams. Not many long tendered employees. Younger employees will learn a lot because there are many battlefield promotions due to turnover. The company leaves a ton of money on the table due to mismanagement. Stay away as the average tenure is 12-18 months.

Pros
Some good people, but not enough to make it worth it.
Cons
Company is very intrusive when it comes to not only its own employees but to those on the side of the EPC's that they hire to construct their projects as well. Asking the management team at a project site "what keeps you up at night" is not the way to ask someone if they see any potential issues with the project. Pay and per diem isn't all that great either, and certainly didn't compensate for the way certain members of upper management made you feel on their visits. Corporate management treats site teams and EPC's in such a condescending manner, it is very off-putting, and quite frankly, rude.

Pros
Good salary, 2 days work at home.
Cons
They overpromise and underdeliver during the hiring process. They straight up lied to me about a bonus and about my work expectation.
