Cushy pharmacist job that doesn't pay well

Nov 29, 2022 - Staff Pharmacist in Orlando, FL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great WFH and work-life balance. This is a huge difference compared to retail pharmacy life. Benefits: HSA, Roth 401k, honor your previous employer's PTO

    Cons

Below-market pharmacist salary that is NOT keeping up with inflation. If you're the breadwinner in the family, you may want to look elsewhere or use this as a stepping stone. High deductible health plan Limited career opportunities from what I saw. Not sure where I could move into besides my supervisor's role, but there has to be an opening first.

GOOD PEOPLE, EXCESSIVE MANAGEMENT LAYERS, SILO-BASED FUNCTIONS, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTINUITY

Apr 12, 2022 - Pharmacy Technician in Indianapolis, IN
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

GREAT BENEFITS, DECENT PAY MANAGED BY PARENT COMPANY CIGNA

    Cons

ACCREDO SPECIALTY PHARMACY division, although it has improved over last couple of years, still struggles with splintered silo-format job functions and departments. Way too many layers of management, way too many meetings. Slow to make simple changes that could improve customer service. Culture of hot-potato customer issue resolution. Puts patients & prescribers through unnecessary hoops to get simple tasks accomplished - partly due to poor training and micro-management of front line customer service reps "Patient Care Advocates".

Former Employee, more than 5 years

Ideal job only if able to communicate well, learn and work quickly, and deal with high turnover

    Feb 9, 2022 - Pharmacy Technician
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Different types of insurance plans offered to meet personal needs. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision, as well as options to include legal insurance, identity theft insurance, life insurance based on yearly income, and other perks. Tuition reimbursement. Paid maternity and paternity leave. Diversity and inclusion encouraged. Multiple Employee Resource Groups emphasize that the company acknowledges religious and cultural sensitivities. LGBTQIA+ friendly atmosphere. Healthy work/life balance also encouraged with plenty of PTO. Merger with Cigna introduced up to 5 days of "Bought Time Off," where employees can have up to an additional 5 days of paid time off if they opt for a small section of pay to be removed from each paycheck

    Cons

Pay is arguably not equivalent to work expectations. Small raises used to be guaranteed once a year but policy was changed suddenly and raises no longer guaranteed in the way they once were. Overall, the recent merger with Cigna resulted in changes that continued to fluctuate rapidly. Opportunities for management to move to different positions or climb the ladder often resulted in extreme redistribution of responsibilities for other members of management. This had major and sometimes severely negative impacts on certain teams. Missed commitments for patients not nearly as uncommon as one would initially think, often due to poor communication between the pharmacy department and other departments. Company reportedly maintains detailed documentation before termination in order to combat unemployment approval

    Great to grow a career

    Aug 30, 2022 - Supervisor
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Comprehensive benefits. Purposeful work. Room to advance career with dedicated work ethic and performance. Flexible work/life policies. Maternity/paternity Leave. Generous PTO for veteran employees.

    Cons

Raises are expected if you put forth the effort but are not fully weighted for top contributors. Best way to increase salary is change positions or promote.
