I have been working at Accuray full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Travel to new places. Good pay for fresh out of school.

    Cons

Be ready to travel a lot. Poor pay for the amount of work. Not much of promotions. No opportunities for growth. Someone needs to leave or be fired for you to move up.

    Advice to Management

Pay to keep your best and brightest around. Don't get rid of good workers for cheaper ones.

I worked at Accuray full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Accuray was generally ok after the merger, they were straight forward about the process and didn't hide anything.

    Cons

My position was cut upon completion of the merger, but what was rather depressing was the series of layoffs prior to mine, 7 in total. My team went from 12 down to 2 when I was let go, and there was still a Manger for two people.

    Advice to Management

Properly size the staff to meet business needs. Don't be over zealous about hiring during sales spurts.

    Pros

Donuts on Fridays. 50 cent snacks and beverages.

    Cons

Top heavy. Many VP's, mini VP, Directors, middle managers, managers, mini mangers, supervisors. Not enough normal employees.

    Advice to Management

Please get organized. Too many dead weight up top.

    Pros

Exciting benefit to patients; Leading edge technology

    Cons

Top heavy; Post merger: hemorrhage of key founding talent; benefits reduced to lowest common denominator; Want loyalty - Get a dog

    Advice to Management

Bottom line is always important, but sometimes important to retain key core competencies

    I worked at Accuray full-time

    Pros

If you get to work on any of the planning or delivery systems software you'll get good experience writing efficient C++ code. The people are nice and generally very helpful.

    Cons

Management hides a lot of the decision making. You generally work on your tasks and are kept in the dark on everything else. Company always seems to be unstable. Benefits aren't that great and people seem to be pretty bummed about it. QA is understaffed and the deadlines are super aggressive. Different teams don't coordinate that well. Pretty much work in silos. Whenever you communicate with another team it's...

    I worked at Accuray

    Pros

    Mission, technology, compensation, work flexibility

    Cons

Upper management is very secretive causing a culture of mistrust. Too many legacy VPs, not enough hands-on people.

    Advice to Management

Trim some of the upper management bloat at the top who are costly and unproductive.

I worked at Accuray for more than 10 years

    Pros

Accuray / TomoTherapy both have innovative products with the cutting edge technology.

    Cons

Accuray is and has historically been entirely too top heavy. This company prides themselves with caring for their customers and the patients they treat...but have no appreciation for their employees and the level of expertise. Basically...you are a number and depending on your salary...you are expendable. Complete disappointment

    Advice to Management

You have destroyed the original mission and continue to discard valuable, long term, talented, and dedicated employees without any regard to the impact on the customers and or product development. My advice...cut at the top level and start taking care of those who actually work towards adding value to the development.

I have been working at Accuray full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Product is world class and helps thousands of people throughout the world. The idea is there to help millions of people world wide. The somewhat new CEO has the right idea about moving the company into a profitable business.

    Cons

Upper management makes decisions behind closed doors which at times has a negative affect directly on the employees who contribute the most. In recent years, talented employees have left for other opportunity and those positions were at times never refilled.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the lower level employees who do the most work. Their feedback goes unheard and those employees feel under appreciated.

I have been working at Accuray full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great hours, great pay, comprehensive and affordable health care benefits. The leadership we have in place make good decisions for the betterment of the company and it's employees. They've also done a great job at making the company more transparent.

    Cons

Certain departments lack the cohesiveness that others do. Not everyone has the same experience as it really depends on what section of the company you're in. Because the company hasn't been profitable there is always a lingering fear that your job could be lost on any given day. This fear has been lessened by the backing of Wallstreet and the change in leadership over the last few years.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you're doing. Transparency, honesty, it all counts to us. Thank you for making Accuray//Tomotherapy a great place to work.
