I worked at Ace Cash Express full-time

    Pros

If it’s a slow day and you’re alone, it’ll be a fun day.

    Cons

If you’re alone in the store and it gets busy all day, good luck. You won’t be eating lunch.

    Advice to Management

Always have two people in the store.

    Pros

Love being able to work alone at times, being able to help the customers

    Cons

Didn't like the incentives plan for debit cards. And scary being behind the enclosed booth alone for long periods of times.

    Advice to Management

Be more caring and concerned about your employees

    Pros

    Working independently, great customers

    Cons

High school type atmosphere with the district manager. Unprofessional and gossip nonstop amongst employees - be prepared to work 12 Saturday's in a row while others work maybe 1 even though they claim to rotate.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up

I worked at Ace Cash Express (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent place, Base pay plus stores bonus. District managers were team players. Coworkers very friendly. Regional HR department always helpful with employees concerns.

    Cons

Long hours. Not able to go out for lunch. Too many stores get rob. Unsafe. Poor store safety. The stores needs to improve the cameras. Need a central location to surveillance the stores. Some stores camera equipment is too old.

    Advice to Management

    Need more security cameras.

    Pros

Flexible. I met quite a few good people. I'd rate the day-to-day work experience at 3 (with 4 being "the best so far" and 5 being "it's going to hard to retire because I love this place so much.")

    Cons

Upon joining, I knew that I was accepting a position at a company that I would never do business with or encourage family or friends to do business with. I didn’t believe in paying a percentage of my check to cash my own check, title loans or payday loans. Outside of a mortgage or car loan, I didn't believe in paying interest on anything, and at the time, I was working to repay my car loan in 2.5 years. With that said, I was never caught up the excitement when the company reached or exceeded sales goals because I knew there were many people on the wrong end of this deal. There was no fulfillment in working for a company who's products or services I couldn't endorse. I made it a point not to work against my own values again. I want to able to celebrate the accomplishments too.

    Advice to Management

Advice to All (management, employees of any company): If you can see yourself as a customer or sell services (or products) to your family and friends, then by all means sell it to the public. If not, re-think.

    Social Responsibility.

I have been working at Ace Cash Express full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have been with the company for 12 years and for the most part I do like working for Ace Cash Express.

    Cons

Whenever you have problems and you can't settle settle it with your DM it seems like the higher up just side with them. I have a DM the takes my vacation time without me requesting it and put it on my paycheck. Now I don't have my vacation time when I need it. Somehow I feel that that is illegal since we have to request vacation with a form that we have to fill out. Also when you go by corporate rules and a check comes back because it was green-lighted the DM argues with you about not quoting policies to her and then your schedule gets changed and you don't get time off when you request it.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest to the HR Dept and higher up to listen to the employees when they have legitimate complaints instead of siding with the DM and RVP.
