I worked at Ace Hardware full-time

    Pros

For anyone who likes cute small stores, this is the place. Hours are sensible for shift work. Small-town environment.

    Cons

Family-owned so a lot of the employees are related to someone in management. Being a small town, there is lots of gossip between the employees that is almost childish. Personal life often influences and interferes with the teamwork. Employees who attend church are preferred by management.

    Advice to Management

Religion and brown-nosing shouldn't raise your opinion of an employee. Don't hire someone because they are related to someone in management. Create manuals for positions so that duties are clear. Communicate with supervisors.
