I worked at Ace Hardware full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work environment. Being a franchise you have an opportunity to meet the owners. The ACE I worked at the owner was always really friendly.

    Cons

The pay never really increases much. I worked here for 5 years and maybe got a $1 pay increase. This is my reason for leaving.

    Advice to Management

    Better compensation

    Pros

Really friendly staff, they are really concerned about your well being. Good pay and generous company owners. Good chance for advancement.

    Cons

Very high turnover and frequent work drama. Multiple workers let go for questionable reasons. Busy days can be super difficult while slow days are super boring.

    Advice to Management

Try I communicate with each other more.

I have been working at Ace Hardware part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are a pleasure to be around. Store size is perfect for those not wanting all the chaos of a big box store. Everyone is very friendly. It's one of those places where everybody knows your name, even customers!

    Cons

There isn't much room for advancement, full time, or raises. Expect to take on extra responsibilities without compensation. It can be stressful when there's limited staff.

    Advice to Management

Hire associates with the ability to lift more than 50 lbs for the spring and fall fertilizer seasons. We load a lot of soil and mulch that easily overwhelms some of our regular staff.
