    Advice to Management

Ace used to feel like a family up until a couple years ago. Stop micro managing the details.

I worked at Ace Hardware full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Consistent schedule, but was also flexible.

    Cons

Have mgmt come to you with issues and not ignore you, when you try to confront them, to resolve a situation

    Advice to Management

Start acting like managers and not like adolescents. This is a place of business, not a football locker room!

I have been working at Ace Hardware full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ace Corporate is a great place for a career! The company's culture is very friendly and helpful - people genuinely care for each other and a lot of friendships live in this office. The culture within Ace encourages employees to think outside the box, challenge and push back on decisions or processes as well as welcome ideas from all ranks across the organization. I personally feel Ace's Corporate culture combines small businesses and big organizations into the perfect mix. It's a company I personally feel good about because of its reputation, brands, social responsibility and community involvement.

Since there is more work than people, you can learn things in your job you wouldn't necessary be exposed to with other companies. Ace prides itself on people taking initiative on projects and bringing ideas to the table to move the organization forward. I am proud to be at Ace!

    Cons

There is sometimes more work than people to go around so headcount could be managed better.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to employee's input on "You Ask, We Answer", the town hall meetings, and our employee surveys - this can make all the difference in how we operate in the future.

I have been working at Ace Hardware part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoy working for this small-town employer. Most of our customers are relatable and friendly, and I enjoy solving problems and locating products and providing services.

    Cons

Homeless people who loiter around nearby businesses & city buildings, creating a burden for busy local police. Due to sanctuary city policies of many larger metropolitan areas, homeless related issues affect cities in the vicinity of Seattle and other large cities.

    Advice to Management

Continue offering positive & constructive feedback to employees.

I have been working at Ace Hardware full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people, both employees and customers. Yes you get that jerk customer who wants everyone to be as miserable as them, but you help customers of all types.

    Cons

ACE Hardware Corporation's employees due less than the bare minimum. They are of no help at all, from DMs to Project Managers and we as part of the co-op are paying there salary. In addition, ACE Charges about a 25-30% mark up on the store setups and also the branching out is good but the strings attached like certain vendors especially Epicor the POS system.

    Advice to Management

ACE Corporate needs to offer some actually decent incentives, to a current member as part of the "branching out program", for purchasing a competitor I.e. True Value, Do it Best, etc.
