I worked at Ace Hardware full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Store manager had a friendly attitude.

    Cons

No one even bothered to train me. I was just left to my own devices and expected to make sales and assist customers immediately.

    Advice to Management

Properly train employees when you hire them.

    Pros

Great culture and benefits. Going places even though it is a 90-year plus company. The people you work with are great.

    Cons

Transparency is an issue as it is with many private companies. Not enough care and feeding of individual contributors and not enough roles to move up.

I have been working at Ace Hardware part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Our store has a "Hometown" feel. I feel like I'm part of a small, close-knit team. I like the people I work with, and the overall atmosphere of the store is friendly and laid back. My schedule is very flexible.

    Cons

Pay is average. Small store run by a small crew can sometimes amplify "personal differences" among staff.
