    Pros

I enjoyed working for Ace. I made a lot of friends and learned a lot about the industry. They also offer great benefits.

    Cons

Career advancement is somewhat limited. Middle and senior management have so much on their plates that they sometimes lose focus on employee engagement.

I worked at Ace Hardware part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was hired at Ace Hardware while a customer, I didn't know the manager was on the floor and ended up having a lovely chat with him, ending in being invited back for an interview. The training was basic and simplistic, I was put on the cash register and only mastered that. It took nearly 8 months of part time work to actually begin learning more about the store and step outside of my comfort zone. The employees were all wonderful, and I had plenty of time to ask questions and get to know the store and merchandise. The management team at my store were pretty coordinated and easy to get along with.

    Cons

Raises at my store were rare. On my hire I was told 'never', but upon asking other coworkers they said 'six months' usually they saw something. Being a fairly low wage, it was difficult to give commitment to them for full time.
The lack of in-depth training hindered my ability to advance myself so asking for a raise would be more respected.

    Advice to Management

Don't take shortcuts on training, and the opportunity for raises will encourage employees to stick around or work harder.

I worked at Ace Hardware part-time

    Pros

Very good hours with a huge excessive amount of flexibility and very easy to coordinate with staff to fix or change your hours according to your daily plans

    Cons

Very boring job I was bored out of my mind most of the day I worked and basically was separated from staff

    Advice to Management

Definitely do some kind of employee bonding or something similar to that because I hated working by myself there

I have been working at Ace Hardware part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The store is small, so you are a small force to be reckoned with. This enables a feeling of home. Very friendly staff and management is great. Very good place to work.

    Cons

The pay is weak, you can't support yourself. Unless you move up in the ranks. Which is not easy at all. since the place has had the same people working there for years.

    Advice to Management

Follow your policies and stop winging it. The customers are taking advantage of you. I know its hard for locally own places but tough it.
