The Best Career I Have Ever Had

      Pros

I absolutely love this company and my job. Our new leaders listen and care. Recently, changes were implemented to provide an array of opportunities and upward mobility within the organization. Regional VPs are hands-on and compassionate about their teams, while trusting them to do their best for our schools: Zero micromanagement, whatsoever. The base salary is fair, and work/life balance is supported. Our programs are second to none, and continue to get better all the time. It is a pleasure to be able to work with teachers using a program they love for their students.

      Cons

*Not many incentive or bonus opportunities outside of sales *Travel can be extensive in certain regions *Busy season is hectic, and can be stressful.

      I had to get out...

      Pros

Generous PTO - this is the only reason I stayed so long. The work-life balance wasn't terrible either.

      Cons

Don't believe the 5-star reviews, they were probably written by HR. It was okay, but there are much better companies out there. I have heard from friends still at Achieve about major furloughs and layoffs both prior to and because of Covid. In my years (2013 - 2019) at Achieve, there were 5 major layoffs across all departments. Many times I was given more and more work to do with no raise or even a thank you. There was no room for a "worker bee" like me to advance so it was time to move on. I am not sure what the future holds for this company, but it seems pretty abysmal from the other reviews on this page.

      Pros

You make money. Decent product. Great vacation time. Good work life balance.

      Cons

Company is falling apart at the seams. Upper management sends employees videos of themselves on work trips enjoying extracurricular activities. The office atmosphere is abysmal. There is no culture or diversity. Bottom line is all about saving money, yet the exec team gets catered lunches and business trips monthly. A mural was just installed in an office where the mood is drab. How we had money for that is beyond anyone's understanding. Employees are fired and laid off on a weekly basis, and no one is replaced. Work is spread to already maxed out employees. Certain departments are overstaffed with 'director' positions with no direct reports, while others are told 'we are unable to promote you due to budget.' The office fits about 150 employees, yet there are more than 60 empty cubes. Upper is management is never in office, yet they demand everyone else report daily. Recently an email was sent out demanding everyone to report to the office to impress a big wig, who was paying a visit to the office. Office sure looked full that day with people who had never reported to the office before.

Feels like it gets worse and worse... and worse

      Pros

Great colleagues with exceptional expertise. Willing to share ideas to help schools, teachers, students and account growth

      Cons

There were hopes that new leadership would stabilize the company, rebuild trust and morale and improve the company overall. Most of the field team has resigned or is looking for other opportunities. Extremely poor management, unrealistic work/life balance and no attention to details. They are flying by the seat of their pants.

      Pros

      Nice coworkers, good team collaboration.

      Cons

POOR LEADERSHIP is all I can say. The leadership team is short sighted and don't care about company morale. They took away the perks that make people happy, like the $200 Holiday gift card and various other gestures of appreciation. They don't look at the big picture of running a healthy company, where people are happy to work. They are not accommodating and don't have any work/life balance.

      Pros

The product is great and customers who use the product with fidelity are seeing results which makes customer management and relationships solid.

      Cons

Expectations of corporate are not realistic (140 training days in a school year). There is little concern for work life balance by corporate and regional management. Performance survey does not guide salary increases.

      Pros

Wonderful & impactful product. Amazingly talented coworkers across departments. Great initial training. Learned a lot from my boss & teammates. Generous time off.

      Cons

Work-life balance is difficult to have when working here. Very little appreciation from execs/upper management is shown, much less an acknowledgement that folks work their fingers to the bone; it seems that the expectation is you should/can always do more. If something goes wrong with a customer, upper management seems to want to pinpoint an Achieve employee with the blame instead of looking at the situation objectively and trying to learn/grow from the experience. Pricing seems to be unrealistic for continued renewal in many places. The rollout of new systems & processes are often done during peak season which just adds more work to learn the new information & in turn leads to frustration when it is already a challenge to get everything done during the week. Minimal chance for internal career advancement.

Do not ignore the negative reviews!

      Pros

Best product in the market- impactful and does what it claims to. Decent benefits and twice-yearly professional development trips. Really, the pro is the brilliance of the product, and nothing else.

      Cons

Where to begin? Micromanagement, micromanagement, micromanagement... which appears to me a trickle-down effect. Upper level management is nuts, and everyone is lorded over. For a company whose employees are more than 50% remote, one would like to think that there is autonomy and trust to get the work done. Forget it. Not in this place. You will be told how to write emails, how to spend your work-from-home day (should you be lucky enough to have it not taken away from you), and how you should be maximizing your time in schools even if said schools explicitly say “we only want you here for 2 hours.” Good luck to you if your schools only want you booked for 1 hour- you must be doing something wrong then or not being pushy enough. There is zero respect for employees’ time- often, meetings are held in evenings after 6pm, and there is an outrageously unreal expectation for how employees (especially those in implementation, which is roughly half of the company) should be accessible at all hours of the day- even weekends. WORST work-life balance I have ever encountered. There is none and your managers will not encourage let alone respect it. You don’t think these negative reviews are legitimate? Spend some time sussing out the common threads: unhappiness, micromanagement, negative company culture, unfair treatment of employees, incomprehensible workload expectations. This is REAL and it is very present. I am not a disgruntled employee who has been let go- I am very much a part of the company and I am experiencing each of these grievances almost daily. There have also been a crazy high amount of resignations in just the past 3 months- many, many high level positions- and in some cases, people who have only been on the job for a matter of months are running for the hills.
