I have been working at Achievement Center full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The Achievement Center has changed so much over the past few years and it just keeps getting better! Management changes, wellness programs and cultural shifts have made it a great agency to work for. The agency, like most profit and non-profit businesses, has expectations for all staff. The difference with the Achievement Center is that the culture is that of understanding, compassion and support. The... benefit package is also second to none-from health insurance, to the 403B plan to time off!

I worked at Achievement Center full-time

    Pros

Great benefits A lot of days off between PTO, vacation, and sick days

    Cons

Almost everything else. There is absolutely no communication between departments and especially no communication between their main office and the satellite branches. The managers are disorganized and depend on hourly staff to organize projects and fundraisers but then don’t give those employees recogniztion for their efforts or monetary compensation for their extra effort. The company has been having massive... lay offs for over a year and their satellite office has lost two different types of services and will most likely close within the year. The pay to begin with is lower than the average for whatever position you may be in, then on top of that, the raises are next to nothing.

I have been working at Achievement Center part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The staff are amazing, as well as the campers you meet. It truly is an eye-opening experience to be working there.

    Cons

The salary is low and the job has many challenges at times. A lot of dirty work that you may not want to do.

    Advice to Management

It would be great to have salaries raised, I know it is difficult as it is a non-profit, but it sometimes is hard work and you don't feel like it is enough for the work you do.

I worked at Achievement Center full-time

    Pros

Good benefit package, flexibility in scheduling, variety of clients/environments, a lot of independence

    Cons

Salary extremely below average, poor relations between administrators and staff, a lot of unpaid overtime nearly every single week, little concern for employees as human beings, a lot of turnover recently with newer HR dept. head, limited supply of therapy and test materials shared among therapists

    Advice to Management

For starters: do what is necessary to provide reasonable salaries for your employees (this includes reconsidering administrators' salaries and benefits), do research on how other agencies have reduced the number of no-shows/cancels so that staff do not have to overbook so drastically just to meet productivity requirements, look into better software programs that actually reduce the amount of paper/computer- work... time rather than increase it, actively seek out opinions on what staff need to do their jobs effectively, improve communication and relations between administrators (esp. HR) and staff, allow sufficient time between telling us what needs to be done and the deadline for accomplishing it (this includes acknowledging the amount of unpaid overtime we work).
