I have been working at Ackman-Ziff full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ackmann Ziff is a very sophisticated shop that closes a large number of complex transactions every year. Great firm to work at and great firm to have represent you.

    Cons

Ackman Ziff is a small company. Not as many resources as a large company.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up.

    I worked at Ackman-Ziff full-time

    Pros

The work environment is formal, but very comfortable. The people working there are extremely motivated and aware of current real estate market trends making them great advisors as well. They look for people who are honest and transparent with their co-workers and clients. Each employee has their own take on their position, but the entire office is well connected and creative in their financial structuring.

As an analyst you are exposed to many types of deals. There are opportunities to work with each person in the office, if you are available and persistent. Everyone has very strong excel skills and will give time to anyone who approaches them. Along with their current deal flow, old OM's and financials are available to employees as learning resources and conversation topics.

If you have the chance to speak with Simon, you'll see very quickly how much he cares about everyone in the office. He's constantly expanding his network and loves to hear new ideas. He also somehow does a great job balancing his work and family life.

    Cons

Although all employees have great values and morals, they are not particularly culturally diverse.

    Advice to Management

    Only good things to say.

I worked at Ackman-Ziff as an intern (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Highly positive and collaborative working environment where rank amateur Analysts become involved in every level of the transaction. The amount of knowledge gained in my ten month internship was beyond belief and the doors opened by having "Ackman Ziff" on my resume was priceless.

    Cons

There were no cons in my time at AZ

    Advice to Management

Keep it up (and see if you can pay some of those interns)!

I worked at Ackman-Ziff as an intern

    Pros

Throughout the course of my 4 months, I greatly enjoyed working with an incredibly talented group of people. The responsibility and learning opportunities affiliated with the role go well beyond the boilerplate descriptors for most internships in real estate. While the workload is significant, the hands-on involvement of senior management and the opportunities to work on multiple teams and deal types is fairly unparalleled. There is a clear meritocratic culture that stems from the top, and it is also clear that the firm takes a great interest in the growth and development of its employees down to the internship level.

    Cons

No material cons affiliate with this experience.

    Advice to Management

Continuation of structured programming for junior level employees (in the form of guest speakers, weekly meetings etc.) is extremely valuable, as it provides an opportunity to build a lexicon that backs-up quantitative foundations. These opportunities also provide Associates and Interns with a sense of the broader deal environment within the firm and the market.

I worked at Ackman-Ziff as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Led by Simon Ziff, the Ackman-Ziff team boasts a unique blend of professionalism and light-heartedness. Right from the get-go, Ackman-Ziff's operating team maps out a comprehensive, multifaceted support system to ensure an easy transition into the finance world. As an undergraduate with limited exposure to Finance, this was incredibly relieving as I was a bit apprehensive about entering Real Estate Finance. Over the course of my internship, I received an infinite amount of support from not only the analysts, but also from associates and directors. Ackman-Ziff fully integrates interns; I was given exposure to a variety of quotes, lender matrices, and rent rolls, and I was encouraged to sit in on lender meetings.

    Cons

Nothing bad to write about Ackman-Ziff.
