I have been working at Aclara full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management gives people the power to make decisions.
Company is constantly looking for ways to improve
Leadership holds all employee meetings several times per year to keep everyone up to date on how the business is doing and to provide awards to employees who have contributed to the success of the organization.

    Cons

Fast pace can sometimes lead to quick change of direction

    Advice to Management

Keep moving forward. Row the boat together.

    I worked at Aclara full-time

    Pros

Pay is respectable. New office is bright but very open. I cannot envision more "pros" to fill out the 20 word minimum

    Cons

Terrible leadership. Mismanaged projects. Overly stressed and overly sensitive group. No clear direction on plan. Priorities change daily making it impossible to deliver on time.

    Advice to Management

    Doesn't matter. They won't listen.

    Pros

Competitive salary, relaxed work environment, nice people

    Cons

Disorganization was not uncommon on some projects

    Advice to Management

Take into consideration the input from those that worked hands on with the product.

    Pros

    Good compensation
    Alright benefits
    Lots to learn

    Cons

They will reduce you to a sales worker no matter what function you are from. Nothing except the top line of next quarter matters. No future vision. A technology company that tells its marketing strategy team to "Sell what you have".

I have been working at Aclara full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Alcara is a fast-paced work environment, always looking to improve themselves. Senior Leadership is very accessible, and the teams work well together. Departments are always looking for ways to engage their employees and make them feel a part of something bigger. Great Work/Life balance.

    Cons

Company is growing, so policies and procedures change.

I worked at Aclara full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company does make it clear what expectations are and makes and effort to reward top performers. Good vacation and PTO policy. Good people who work hard even in face of high turnover.

    Cons

People are viewed as replaceable commodities without unique capability and value. Add that attitude to the expectations for production and the lack of positive feedback generally and you have a sometimes negative experience.

    Advice to Management

I'd offer advice, but it would not change anything.

I have been working at Aclara full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work colleagues are supportive and willing to share their experience. Work on interesting products, so never bored.

    Cons

Easy to burn out due to long hours and blistering pace. Hiring freeze is in place so good luck on being able to resolve any issues. Yet push by management to work harder. Sales team doesn't have a clue what the software does. HR keeps thinking up new ways to torture us with performance reviews with little increase in pay.

    Advice to Management

Stop bothering us with meaningless HR tasks. Better pay scale. Educate sales team. Hire more engineers.

    I worked at Aclara full-time

    Pros

Appears to be growth through acquisitions
    Professional/Knowledgeable teammates across the board

    Cons

Target salary rate is 25th percentile/lower for new hires
The C-level shares how great the last quarter of 2016 was and not long after there is a hiring freeze across the board along with 30 FTEs being laid off.

I have been working at Aclara full-time

    Pros

Greatest asset is the many highly committed and talented employees
Company works at creating/maintaining a positive work culture; feedback is captured yearly; with actions taken
A lot of opportunities in the business exist to continue the company's growth and visibility in the market

    Cons

Due to the fast growth, the pace and for some workload has doubled; as a result hard to keep the focus on the priorities - growing pains

    Advice to Management

Keep reinforcing the priorities and moving forward - engage the employees more by helping them to visualize what Aclara and they are capable of achieving
