A solid place to work and build skills, but the company has a very unclear future
Aug 28, 2020 - Anonymous Employee in Portland, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- The work-life balance is good, and people around the company are generally relaxed and friendly. - Financial leadership is strong and makes sound decisions to prolong the life of the company. - The compensation is competitive, and flex time is really generous (depending on your manager, of course). Although there is no 401(k) match, the other benefits are adequate to good.
Cons
- The only coherent business plan I can see is to cut costs everywhere to remain profitable. Team members have been laid off, or not back-filled when they find another opportunity. Admin teams are spread pretty thin and expected to wear multiple hats. It doesn't seem senior leadership is expecting growth when you consider the hiring pattern. - The product teams work really hard, but they spend most of their time on escalations and bug fixes rather than true product innovation. The product has been around for a long time, so the market knows what to expect.. if they didn't buy two years ago, why would they buy now? The big features we are adding seem to be things that other companies already do, and have done for a long time. - Sales has been struggling for a while without any clear way out. There are always positive leading indicators of good sales ahead, but they don't seem to materialize.

Exceptional product, questionable management decisions
Nov 20, 2016 - Customer Success Manager in Roseville, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Product is really top in the industry (Easy to use and learn), very flexible and adaptive - Technical product which you as an employee can really learn and is a prime resume builder - People that I work with are very smart like to teach and help others - Free Healthy-ish Snacks and not so health drinks (coffee, soda, redbull) - Most co-workers went out of their way to help others (very team oriented) - Great benefits (although no 401k match) - Everybody is really cool and down to earth
Cons
- More competitive niche(from when Act-On first started) which leads to volatility - No more free lunch and breakfast - Company seems to be divided from departments so there's a bit of disconnect on who does what. (example being of who saves the customer when canceling, Account Manager or RSM) [This getting fixed as we speak though] - Not all departments allow for work at home or hybrid which seems to be more and more the norm these days. - Seems to be more and more cost cutting measures towards employee moral. (Eg bonus/commissions were paid further out[if you quit or leave you don't get them] and company made it more difficult to meet the goals).
