      Pros

Truthfully Act-On has had a lot of ups and downs over the past few years and its been challenging for everyone. However, Act-On saw some really positive momentum coming out of 2020 and into 2021. With the recent round of funding I believe we are in position to take the next step and continue that momentum. One of the best things about Act-On is the people and the hard work/dedication they bring to work everyday.

      Cons

As stated above the past few years have seen some ups and downs. There have been conflicts between groups and losing amazing co-workers has been difficult. But, I honestly believe with the recent funding we have made it through the rough times and are now poised to once again hit our goals. Its not going to be easy but it is exciting and rewarding knowing our investors believe in us.

A solid place to work and build skills, but the company has a very unclear future

      Pros

      - The work-life balance is good, and people around the company are generally relaxed and friendly. - Financial leadership is strong and makes sound decisions to prolong the life of the company. - The compensation is competitive, and flex time is really generous (depending on your manager, of course). Although there is no 401(k) match, the other benefits are adequate to good.

      Cons

      - The only coherent business plan I can see is to cut costs everywhere to remain profitable. Team members have been laid off, or not back-filled when they find another opportunity. Admin teams are spread pretty thin and expected to wear multiple hats. It doesn't seem senior leadership is expecting growth when you consider the hiring pattern. - The product teams work really hard, but they spend most of their time on escalations and bug fixes rather than true product innovation. The product has been around for a long time, so the market knows what to expect.. if they didn't buy two years ago, why would they buy now? The big features we are adding seem to be things that other companies already do, and have done for a long time. - Sales has been struggling for a while without any clear way out. There are always positive leading indicators of good sales ahead, but they don't seem to materialize.

      Continuous Improvement

      Pros

I've been a part of engineering at Act-On for over half a decade. There has been a ton of change over those years. Most of it for the better. Here are just a few: - Better engineering culture - Better relationships between departments - More open communication from the executive level - More focus on creating customer value over buzzword features - Better development practices - Improved hiring practices A few other pros are: - Really good health benefits - Take what you need PTO policy

      Cons

There's a few benefits that would be nice to add, especially 401k match and maybe a sabbatical for long term employees. ;)

      Pros

Many cool, funny coworkers who care about each other; current CTO actually knows what he's doing

      Cons

Overwhelming technical debt; a few toxic coworkers; previous leadership was out of touch and wasted good faith from employees. Burnout and talent churn is a real thing. They have one HR person handling all operations. Their pay scale is bad because they don't research market values for skill sets.

      Pros

      Now? Well, you get paid.

      Cons

I was early, and watched the company grow... and then lose its way. And now they've rebranded... trying to become current, but the new logo reminds me of toothpaste for some reason. You can say "new" all you want to, but it still looks old and tired.

      Clueless Leadership

      Oct 11, 2019 -

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Free snacks, free bus pass, decent health insurance plans, casual dress code, a fair amount of PTO and paid holidays.

      Cons

The product is barely functional. Everyone who uses it internally hates it and it crashes constantly. The UI is straight out of Windows ‘95 and lacks basic features that you can find in any modern software application. But the Product team is too busy fixing bugs and remedying the latest outage to be concerned with any real innovation. Leadership is clueless. The company has zero brand awareness and is hemorrhaging money, while Marketing does nothing but bribe analysts and purchase third party lists. Sales isn’t held accountable for anything. Reps flat out refuse to contact leads or book demos and no one gets reprimanded for it. But who can blame them for not wanting to peddle such a subpar product? There’s no strategy in place for how to turn things around. Leadership has been operating under the assumption Act-On would be bought out, but there’s no one left in the market who would touch them now. Their reputation is in the toilet and I don’t expect the company to be around much longer.

      another year another rebrand

      Pros

The only thing I can think of is a paycheck during the recession.

      Cons

Quite literally everything. Doing even the most basic of research shows this place is falling apart at the seems. Inept leadership that spends obscene amounts of time and money rebranding on a near yearly basis... as opposed to just fixing the product. No culture, high turnover, terrible HR, and a consistent wonder if you'll have a job when you wake up in the morning.
