I have been working at Actavis as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. Great location in research park and a nice facility overall. Good products in a strong and growing industry.

    Cons

Multiple ownership changes in the last few years have left manufacturing area employees at the Watson/Actavis/Teva plant unsure of what the future holds. Accordingly, many of the best have jumped ship to other local medical manufacturing companies, leaving behind an unmotivated workforce. Workplace training is almost nonexistent, consisting mostly of pro forma document signing, while hours are wasted in paperwork errors, entire crews sit idle for long periods of time due to poor scheduling and basic contamination and PPE protocols are routinely ignored by employees who are uninformed or simply disinterested. Potential employees should be aware-this is one of the least motivated and motivating facilities that I have ever encountered in almost 20 years of manufacturing. If hired, prepare to be confused, frustrated and working in a low-morale environment that has bred a toxic workplace culture. Overt racism, bigotry, sexual harassment, as well as other unprofessional conduct, are the order of the day in this facility. The 12 hour shifts are soul-destroying in this situation.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees. People who are unsure of their own futures willation by even the lowest standards. not be effective employees in the workplace. Get the H.R. department actively involved in replacing the current toxic culture with a healthy one. Implement an active training department in your manufacturing area-the propagation of incorrect procedures due to poor/nonexistent training and communication difficulties is a serious issue.
