    Pros

Actuant is a company that recognizes high performance and creates opportunities for employees to achieve. As with many larger companies it is not a political organization and if you have an idea someone is always asking what are your ideas. If you give 150% and drive results doors will open for you.

    Cons

Being a smaller organization resources are always limited so you have to learn to do more with less.

    Advice to Management

Continue recognizing high achievers and moving out low performers

    Cons

    Great company to work for

    Advice to Management

Solid outlook for the near term, great funnel of opportunities across all segments, recent senior promotions strengthen the outlook for the medium term. Overall the company is in a great position for growth

    Pros

I have been provided with the opportunity to use my intellect and experience to drive continuous improvement in our processes and procedures. I have learned and grown more with Actuant than I have over the previous 15 years of experience in HR.

    Cons

It is a matrixed organization so it is not for everyone. You have to be comfortable working with and for people with different departmental and divisional goals. However all of the goals feed into the company's overall objectives. It builds your networking and relationship building skills but, you have to be willing to get out of your comfort zone in order to make it work.

    Pros

Company will provide a lot of opportunity for personal growth. Individuals performing the work are not always given credit. Solid place to begin a career.

    Cons

There is a lot of turnover. Quarter driven business whose highest priority is cash flow. You will learn about how to deliver results. If you do not deliver your employment will be terminated.

    Advice to Management

Given the amount of turnover presents an opportunity to ask themselves why. What is it about the company culture that creates so many short term employees is a question worth answering.

I worked at Actuant (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has a diverse offering of Products and Solutions, properly managed this company could grow twice and three times its current Revenue level.

    Cons

Executive Management does not understand the difference in managing a Holding Company versus an Operational company. Actuant grew to current levels through M&A, most Executives at Actuant think and behave as if Actuant is still a holding company. In addition, Executives at Actuant do not understand the difference between Managing and Leading, the gap in salaries for mid and upper level management is to wide with obvious self serving management decisions.

    Advice to Management

Learn to lead, learn the difference between Managing and leading, invest in the future of Actuant...in people, innovation and mfg.

    -Tedious work

    Advice to Management

Be sure to have a continuous conversation with employees to understand their needs. Continue with bringing more fun to work (the events so far have been really successful)!

    I worked at Actuant full-time

    Pros

You will be well advised to avoid working for this company or any of its affiliates. The turnover rate is high and many people currently working there are job hunting.

    Cons

The company has a history of churning and burning employees. They also recruit mid-level managers who have failed at other Fortune 500 companies and underpay them. This company also has a history of leaving employees hanging with un-reimbursed expenses.

    Advice to Management

Enroll your upper management in ethics training, and start paying attention to exit interviews. Departing employees can continue to help you if you treat them honestly.

    Pros

This company is willing to work hard for you if you work hard them. There are a lot of opportunities to meet with senior level business leaders. The environment is very welcoming and I am able to ask anyone for help when needed. Their college relations program really shows how much they care about new talent.

    Cons

I wish it didn't take as long to get more vacation days

    Advice to Management

Be sure to have a continuous conversation with employees to understand their needs. Continue with bringing more fun to work (the events so far have been really successful)!
